Israel treat the palestinians like absolute dirt, forcing them to go through check points to got to the shops or see their families. Whilst treatment like that continues their will always be huge problems in the region. I dont see why they just dont create a Palistinian state, that would solve half the problems.

They only have checkpoints because of suicide bombers!!!!!
Come on - step back and look at it from a neutral point of view!  I've lived in Northern Ireland through the "Troubles" and have experienced the checkpoints - police/army stopping your car at roadside checkpoints, checking your bags going through the checkpoints into Belfast - but we accepted it, if it hindered the terrorists.

I have to agree with you that the Lebanese government should not allow Hizballah to launch rockets, but this is a new Lebanese government which is powerless! I said it many times that the government cannot stop hizballah because it would create a huge internal conflict. Hizballah are part of the Lebanese government, they have seats in the Parliament which makes it even harder for the Lebanese government to stop whatever they are doing and our c*nt president is supporting Hizballah's operation.

Your asking that we are free, well no, the problem is that Lebanon is politically corrupt, there are so much different sects who have different views and ideas that conflicts with each other creating arguements. This reason caused so many conflicts, including the murder of our beloved Mr. Rafik El- Hariri. Because these sects continuesley offend each other, our freedom of speech in the last 30 years was minimal. Now we are regaining our democratic liberty, but then this happened, the attacks on lebanon.

We never had 15 years of peace with no Israel attacks, Israel withdrew their forces from the south 6 years ago, plus 2 years ago they broke into lebanese airspace scaring people and bombing in the lebanese-israelian border.

Plus Hizballah right now are the only major threat to Israel thats why they are trying to wipe them out which is impossible.

I agree, i feel sorry for every israelian victim in haifa and in the northern part of Israel, but what i hate in some media that they show Israel are the biggest victim in the war! where as Lebanon is the one who is completely being destroyed and right now we have really obscure infrastructure.

Why would Israel want to destroy Lebanon

I stated that many times, and all of my lebanese countrymen would agree with me " to simply stop us from growing" its true! Destroying our infrastructure, hitting towns that has no possibilty of hizballah rocket sites (because in these towns, even if there were rocket sites, these rockets wont reach israel). Now they are targeting ambulances, explain to me why ambulances please?

Perhaps this concept is strange for a British, because they have been enjoying a solid democracy for a lot of years, so did their parents, and the generation before.

BUt truth is that democracies in transition not always control their military. Now Spain has a solid democracy, but we had a coup d'etat in 1983! almost yesterday! because there was some military that was nostalgic of the old regime.

Cleaning those military personnel is not easy even if the whole majority of the country is against them, they simply have the power, and the transition to a democracy is not something that is achieved in one day.

Those attacks won't help in that transition, that's for sure.

In a war, when side is very much overpowered, the lesser equipped army have NO chance of winning in a conventional war, then guerilla warfare must be applied (like Ireland did in its war of independence).

That is why I think the killing/kidknapp of the soldiers can be justified. I don't agree with the guys walking into an Israeli restaurant and blowing up civilians, that is the same as what Israel does, and I hold them on a par.

Remember Internment in Northern Ireland, to break the IRA in the early 1970s, it turned out to be the best recruitment tool they ever had. When a poplulation feels powerless by conventional means they ofter turn to horrible ones.
