Yeah

Telll us more about Barcelona.

Do you go and watch them
What bars do you go to
The tube system is good I was impressed by that
Also have you been to the Pyrenees, went up there for a stroll a few years ago, only two hours on the train from the middle of Barcelona. :)

ok, taff - i'll try and answer your questions...  :D

in haven't been to a barca game this season though i hope to make one before its over. i went to the tsunami game there a few weeks back. well cool. entering the camp nou always makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, its an amazing stadium.

i go to all sorts of bars. there's so many good ones you don't need a regular (although of course i have the black horse about 50 yards down the road for all my footballing needs). i also like can fly in gotico, the merry ant in raval, ginger in gotico and several hundred others... especially the little old bodegas where everything is dirt cheap.

avoid las ramblas and plaza catalunya at all costs!!

the tube system is great and regular and cheap and runs til 2am on friday and saturday. nowhere near as claustrophobic as london underground either.
me and the lady went up to the pyrenees for 4 days a couple of weeks back - in the area up near boi taull. there was still plenty of snow around and all the lakes were frozen but the sun was shining and it was warm. beautiful beyond words.

and not only did they dig down to put more seats in at the camp nou - they're going further. they're actually going to put 4 new terraces UNDER the pitch (which will be made of green glass) so you can look up at the game. the capacity will then be 465,000.

I love Barcelona ,great city great vibe.

On my last visit ,I was walking back to my B&B early one morning just as the sun was coming up and as I crossed a plaza in the Gothic area a fella dressed as Dracula (fangs, cape and all ) pushing a coffin on a trolley legged it past me .

The undead get everywhere  :D

It is a great city. Andy, I really enjoyed the Picasso museum and the streets around there, the gaudi park, the football club tour especially that little church near the tunnel, the olympic area and the fountains and the aquarium.

But a great thing I found is just wandering around and nipping in somewhere if you like the look of it  :)

Woof was he running cos the sun was coming up  ???

local trivia part.... er... lost count. 4 is it?

in the old part of the city, where i live, very very few houses have mains gas. partly because the buildings were built before anyone had thought of it. so evryone uses bottle gas - butane. for 3 or 4 hours every morning the butane sellers (normally pakistanis - surely the hardest working people on this planet) roam the streets clanging the bottles with spanners and shouting "butano! butano!". you have to go out on the balcony and call out, then they come to your door and lug a b@stard heavy gas bottle up 3 or 4 or 5 flights of narrow twisty stairs. apparently they don't get paid bugger all by the gas companies, relying mostly on tips. a bottle normally costs 8 or 9 euros - so i give them 12. a bottle lasts about 2 weeks.

heating? aswell as being in denial that it sometimes rains the barcelonese are also in denial that it ever gets cold. the flats are designed more to stay cool in the summer than warm in the winter. the butane is used mostly for cooking and water heaters.

though in the summer its getting harder and harder to find a spot on the beach amongst the guys selling beerwatercrispsandcoke - so there are employment opportunities galore.

:D

the novelty wears off taff mate, believe me! the first time i heard them going round i thought someone had lost his dog...

there ARE places you can have sunday lunch, with either a traditional or slightly more modern flavour, but nowhere where you can have sunday lunch AND listen to guys shouting "butano!"

this is a gap in the market you might say.

I see  ???

Well I suggest you open up an establishment.  Can you get chips and gravy there or at least curry sauce

I stayed in Naples once in a cheap B&B or pensione as they call it and it was like being in New York in 1904  :D
