Sevilla have been granted an extra month by the Spanish Football League (LFP - Liga de Futbol Profesional) to sign a new player following Sergio Ramos' move to Real Madrid.

Real managed to beat Wednesday's transfer deadline by just a few minutes and prise the talented defender from Sevilla by agreeing to match his buy-out clause - £18 million.

Although Sevilla managed to bring in Serbo-Montenegrin international defender Ivica Dragutinovic to compensate for the loss of their prized young star, an appeal to the LFP has now been successful.

As the club were forced into the sale by Real's decision to pay his release fee, it has been decided they should be given extra time to find a replacement.

The Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan outfit will now have until September 30 to bring in another player if they choose to, although the only stipulation is that it must be a player who is already plying his trade in the Spanish League.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Ramos will be handed the number four shirt at Real - the jersey worn by Fernando Hierro before his exit from the club two summers ago.

This was the problem we had with Benfica for Simao.  There gripe with us was that we wanted him on the last day, and they wouldnt have time to buy a suitable repacement, thus outpricing his move to us. If those Portugeezers knew the rules they wouldn't have had any problesm.
