i think the one major bonus with having pellegrino, apart from his experience of course, is that he fully understands the zonal marking system.
earlier in the season, when we started using the zonal defense, hyypia and the rest did not understand what the hell they were supposed to be doing. this was plain to see as we leaked goals and soft ones at that from set pieces.
having watched the game back on sunday, pellegrino was signalling exactly where people should be standing and generally took complete control.
