I know that this is not the most illustrious list of former Lfc players, but it's all to do with a question some mates and I were discussing in the pub the other day. If you could bring back any former Liverpool player, still playing today apart from Owen, who would it be? My problem is, I can't see any of these players really improving our side, so I went for Danny Murphy because I still don't think he should have gone. To be quite honest, half of that list is just embaressing. Feel free to suggest anyone else.

The only two I would entertain at a push would be Murphy and Baros, but merely as squad players.  Baros would struggle to play in this system Benitez uses, I think Crouch has been an excellent acquisition and we do not miss Baros.  I do think we need to replace Morientes and Cisse but not with a player like Baros.  He's still too good for Aston Villa though.

Alonso and Garcia were bought shortly after Murphy was sold, added to Gerrard, Hamann, Kewell and Sissoko, the best Murphy would be hoping for is a place on the bench.

Anyway, all hypothetical of course, no need to think about it too deeply. :D

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.        BILL SHANKLY

If Danny Murphy comes then one central midfieder has to make way.
The question is which one?

I voted for Baros as our striking department hasnt improved since he left :no

If we are talking pure footballing ability (I know he is an utter scumbag but)... Diouf is probably the only player who would get in our current side. He'd definitely be able to do a decent job for us on the right side of midfield.  I just want to make perfectly clear, I would never want him to be seen in a Liverpool shirt again.

Spit the Dog never did a decent job on the right side before, so I don't see why he would now.  He always gave 100%, but he's better off up front.
:)

I voted for Murphy, although I don't think we need him now as our midfield is pretty good.
