Torres?

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

The armband slipped off by accident at the weekend to reveal underneath YNWA, is he on his way?
I know he has been a target in the past but the rediclous transfer price has been the stumbling block, Chelsea are rumoured to be in for Villa for 45 million, noway we could compete with that.
I thought Rafa would have prefered Villa over Torres.
But maybe thought shit and fell back in it.
So why has he got this written under his captains armband?

That's a really strange one- i wouldn't have imagined he'd be top of Rafa's list due to his price and the other options available. But if he was do you really think he would do something like this and risk being seen? I'd imagine it's just such a well known and respected football (Liverpool) anthem that other players/fans are using it for their own meaning.

Now if he had a Liverpool shirt under his then that'd be a story!!

I commented it yesterday in the thread to talk about anything but could not find the photo. It happened in the Real Sociedad game.

It just shows Ciggy what's the impact of LFC's culture in Europe and Spain.

Although I don't think it means nothing about him wanting to come here, necessarily. And I hope we do't sign him up.

Why he has it? I've told million times LFC is the most known, and most respected UK team in Spain. He wears it just because he has personalised armbands, and YNWA is a phrase that's catchy here. Some crowds have flags of LFC in their own stands as a sign of respect and admitation, also the YNWA.

YNWA is a huge football song and motto now. Like Sabre said, Liverpool have made it this way but many German clubs sing it before games and associate with it as well, Dortmund being the best example.

Yes, it doesn't have to be something related to LFC necessarily...apart from that, Torres is a bit short-minded, so mabe he daesn't have realized it is the motto of another club  and thinks it's the slogan of Nike or something similar :D   .

As for a possible signing...well, Sabre must be tired of repeating the same and I think every single Spaniard would say similar things: he's one of the most overrated player in the world and he's not worthy enough...at least not at the price that Atletico de Madrid usually asks for him. Some people say that his fault is playing for a medium team and that his true quality would show up when playing for a big club, well, who knows, but I think it's too much risk for the price asked. Not a bad player of course, but light years from being world class.

this picture is from a newspaper that shall remain nameless for obvious reasons.

we shouldn't be giving publicity to that rag, no matter what the story.

I disagree. That was the same photo, and the same circle highlighting that appeared in Marca. Probably the Spanish agencies sold it to several newspapers of England.

And Ciggy hosted it in imageshag, so no references to ****, in my view.

I actually think he is a very good player, but not at all the style of striker we need. He is quite strong quick, can beat a man one on one but is he a natural goalscorer ?
Not from what i have seen so far.
As i say i like him but i hope from Rafa's comments its just a case of proving or showing other clubs that we can attract the biggest names, even if he is not necassirly the best player for us.

No comments yet. It's just this fashion of making personal everything: boots with the name, armbands with slogans, and all that. Players like him are more interested on the hairdress than in training.

I think Belanna Torres was a good Chief Engineer on "Star Trek Voyager", but whether that means she can play for Liverpool is another matter entirely.
