In his report to FSG, he'll (should IMO) need to explain that all the 'Moneybollocks' stuff they're into is 'no good', bring back manager's intuition and feck off the stats.

Something doesn't sit right in the gut with me about Comolli and his dealings within the club.

looking at Owens record it makes Kuyts 33 - 13 from midfield last season quite a good return

Kuyt had a very good goalscoring record for Feyenoord before coming to us, I dare say he could have been a twenty goals striker for us had he not been used as a make-shift right winger for much of his Liverpool career. He's certainly one of the few players in our squad that looks capable of sticking the ball into the back of the net.

he might have a decent record for feyenoord but its been far from impressive with us.he struggled in front of goal and was far from clinical and he wasnt good enough to play upfront with torres as a front two so because of his work rate he maintained a place in the side on the wing.
technically he isnt good with no pace,no control and a bad passer of the ball.for every 10 attacks he is involved in, 7 will break down.
i always thought he was never good enough for us and his signing back in 06 was the first sign of players arriving here that just werent liverpool material but through constantly watching him play every week and looking at the commitment he gave then the basic skills needed became irrelevant and he grew on you.
6 years here at a cost of 18 million and a return of 70 odd goals in aprox 300 apps is a poor return for any striker at a top club.
if he was a 20 goal a year guy or indeed one of the few that can hit the net then why isnt he being played up front especially as we have been struggling all season in that department?
its because he isnt flaming well good enough thats why.
this season he has declined at an alarming rate and should be sold as soon as the window opens and replaced with someone better.

the owners should look at themselves first, for a start they appointed a DoF, the first in the clubs 120 year history and a position that traditionally doesnt work out in english football, infact it usually ends up with the DoF falling out with the manager which incidentally is what happened to comoli at st. ettiene and spurs.
on top of that the DoF was appointed on the recommendation of a stats obsessed baseball expert who happens to be from america, practically the only nation on the planet thats not nuts about `soccer`, sounds like just the man you want to ask for advice when appointing someone to run one of the greatest football clubs in the world. then again maybe the L.A Dodgers might come over and ask alan pardew or mike ashley who to appoint as their general manager...though i doubt it.
if fsg wanted the signings to be a success maybe it wasnt the best idea to try a revolutionary new stats based baseball concept out for the first time in this country either.
i`m not surprised kenny`s brain is frazzled at the moment and his decision making has gone to f**k, he`s probably still in shock after having to get on his knee`s and crawl to sky and ferguson because the owners handled the suarez situation so poorly, to be so bullish initially and then to offer such a grovelling apology just makes it seem that the club is comically rudderless.
the owners have done a lot of things right and i certainly wouldnt want them to be happy over whats happened this season but i think the blame needs to be shared out at all levels.

At the end of last season Kuyt, Meireles, Suarez and Maxi combined wonderfully in attack. Now Meireles is sold, and kuyt and maxi is on the bench and we play much worse than at the end of last season.

Kuyt might not have much in the way of flair, but he is an intelligent and very hardworking player that any team would be happy to have. There is a reason why he has played so much for the Netherlands when they have a wealth of more technical and fast players to chose from.

I think Kuyt has been a good servant to Liverpool football club and the fact that his goal return has been mostly from positions of midfield is quite commendable.

I get frustrated and sometimes post things that maybe are a bit too far but its all from the heart.

You live and die by the signings and no more so than today with inflated transfer fees and huge
wage demands. There is simply no room for error.

Dalglish gambled all his chips on some big deals and took what where with hindsight huge punts
with Liverpools tranfser kitty and its backfired on him. Both he and Comolli got the thing very
wrong indeed and you cant blame Fenway for asking for an explanation.

They came in and put a huge amount of faith in these guys only to see the money all but wasted
and you would be fuming. I think to some degree we all are. We just cant afford errors of this
magnitude in the market as we dont have the spare funds to keep trying again and the net spend just doesnt hold up.
Its deals like these that have killed us over the years and its happended again. The idea was we would be smarter, and
Dagger promised to be careful spending their money.

They may give Kenny another shot out of sentiment and fan power but I dont think either party would
hesitate weilding the axe for any other man this summer.

If you added Suarez to those totals the numbers would be even more shocking.  British has nothing to do with it, add to the point that you are putting "appearances" instead of games started to bolster your arguement.  Also putting a pair of midfielders on your list is a bit silly.  Alonso was the best midfielder, aside from Gerrard, that we've seen at this club in a long long time, how many assists and goals did he have?

He also had a different role in the team. Downing as a winger should get into positions where he can score regularly, you cant say the same about alonso. We have fullbacks that like to go forward, and when they do our wingers should storm into the box ready for a cross from our fullbacks. But it never happens. They just stop and hope that suarez can deal with the rest of the defenders alone.

Whether the blame falls soley at Kenny's feet or is shared with Comolli is another matter but FSG are entitled to an answer. Do you really expect them to sit back and say 'it's okaaaaay we'll get it right next year. Here have another 100Mil to spend!' We should have got our signings right last season but we fkd them up and we need to spend BIG again this summer to even be in with a shout of pushing for 4th next season.

DoF`s always end up falling out with managers and comoli himself had fall outs at st. ettiene and spurs so no doubt at some point in the future we`ll give the press something else to laugh about as that inevitable argument gets played out in public.

The dalglish effect!

  Im pretty sure that most fans posting here are as crestfallen about liverpool league form as i am but lets get a few things straight!  Fergie and Utd will win the league again thanks to signing two players liverpool were out to get this season and a player who liverpool wanted the season before last when all the chaos was happening!  the players are Valencia, young and Jones.  Three players which i have no doubt would have gained us a top 4 spot!  3 players on the other hand fergie already had in his squad (maybe discounting valencia) in giggs, park, nani, smalling, vidic, ferdinand, evans and even o'shea to a certain extent (at the time of signing phil jones!)  in signing these players his motives became crystal clear! I don't care about the CL as long as i keep liverpool down!  sneider was the player he needed to compete with barca and make his team a top force in the CL again but he chose to sign liverpool targets!  that made liverpool look at downing and henderson! two players who have been played out of position all season and that will not help their confidence! downing on the right, henderson on the left??  but comolli payed big for these players and they had to be played! now im sure that Adam was a dalglish choice and that was a mistake! he will be a good squad player when we get the players dalglish needs but until then it's make do and mend, even though the outlay looks big!
 
  We sold Babbel and torres which made us £60m+ and thats not counting the sales of konchesky, poulsen and many others that were shown the door by kenny.  totting it up to just over £70m which in my eyes brings the fenways investment down to around the £40m mark!  Dalglish is no fool! he will see that carroll has not been upto it and he will either cut his losses in the summer or invest in two new wingers!  we have signed suarez and enrique which have been huge hits!  the youth team players like coady, stearling, suso and co need to get game time before the end of the season but dalglish brought fowler to the club and he had a hand in when the boy got started at liverpool so i think he still has an eye for a player!  Because Utd are just about to win title number 20 and start their usual celebrations aimed at liverpool just think!  it's not only flattering that they still take us seriously enough to post on our forums, or try to add to the misery! they still have no idea that by fergie trying to keep us down he is single handedly saying goodbye to the CL for the remainder of his stay there because he is obsessed with us! 

  Kenny will get it right, a season and a half isn't long enough to deal with the fires he's had to deal with and move the club forward enough to say we are a force again!  don't be fooled by the numbers that people are throwing around! and certainly don't be fooled into thinking that kenny won't turn this around! he has been out of the game for a while and some of his tatics this season have baffled me but he won the league cup which got us back into europe and he has a chance to win another cup! our best season for 11 years! FACT!!! YNWA King Kenny!!!!!!

I'd expect there to be a post-season review simply as a matter of course, regardless of the outcome of the season, because good communication is an essential feature of good management. It gives both the management and owners an opportunity to thoroughly assess everything that's happened thus far in the period that they've been working together, what there is to learn from that period and how best we move forward. That can only be a good thing for the club.
