The market has moved on - to have subs that cost 50m will be the norm if you want to compete with Abu Dhabi.Keita is regularly on the bench for us and he is not quite the quality we need (or has not demonstrated it yet at least)
Do you expect us to have the same level of squad as City ?! Seriously - they have the most expensive squad in history. We have to rely on clever buying, excellent scouting and outstanding coaching - and compete with Abu Dhabi ?! Financially it’s never going to happen - we aren’t going to be like City and spending £50 mil on a mahrez to sit and be back up - but we have clearly shown on the pitch we can compete with them - last season they nicked it by a whisker , this season we are smashing them out of the park.
We will never have the squad like City - we can’t afford to have big fees and wages sat on tbe bench - and anyone that thinks differently clearly hasn’t got a clue
Fabinho and Keita were immediate starters? Selective memory loss and change of subject seem to be your speciality.
Both players were bought to improve the starting 11 - simple as that , they weren’t bought as back up to sit on the bench , Keita went straight into the first 11 , Fabinho was eased in but both were bought for the first team not as squad players
As an example you refer to only RObbo and TAA when your original comment included Jones and Elliot too.
Yes Jones and Elliot will be part of future squads to be used as back up whilst they develop further - what’s the issue ?
You didn't answer my questions about how many seasons Klopp left things unchanged regarding players and playing style...
Klopp hasn’t changed much from last season to this season - the players have just improved their mentality and resilience over the past two seasons - there was a great interview with Linders who even said the methods haven’t changed , the self belief has whilst Klopp has improved the first team.
Comparing Dortmund with us is meaningless. The competition here is brutal compared to the German league so let's leave that one alone shall we.
Why should we “leave it alone” when it’s very clear that Klopps methods that he had with Dortmund are the same as how he works with us - again something else discussed with Linders. In Germany he battled to overcome the big spending giant - guess what he is doing in the Prem
The FACT is that we need to improve our squad depth and quality. If we don't our rivals will catch and eventually overtake us- this is the reality of the PL
It’s not a “fact” at all - it’s your opinion , we have done nothing but improve as each year goes by with Klopp to the point we are miles ahead of our rivals right now - and Klopp will move the team forward again next season - we have a 25 point gap right now .
Klopp changed his mentality by breaking records in the transfer market twice in a few weeks...completely opposite to what he had said about spending big money the season before. So stop saying he hasn't / won't have a change of mentality- if he hadn't we would be struggling for 4th.
He didn’t “change his mentality “ at all - he wanted VVD un the summer , the club messed up , Klopp still wanted VVD and we ended up paying a significant amount more because the club messed up , he was searching for a keeper for 2 years - he hasn’t changed his ideals , his Methodology- pop onto the website and search out the interviews from players like Henderson , Milner and Linders and you will see the insight for yourself
It’s clear from your posts you expect a different way and model from the club - we aren’t ever going to challenge the likes of City on the transfer market , it’s just not going to happen - Klopp is going to continue to have his nucleus of core 11 with the odd tweak mainly in the midfield as he rotates a few - he isn’t going to have £50 - 80mil pound players sat on the bench , we aren’t going to have like for like for the front three.
Klopp is going to rely on the strength in the unity of the squad - the ability for people to come into the team and ensure the overall strength of the 11 Stays the same - we aren’t going to have another mane or Mo sat waiting to come on - just not going to happen
