What about Alex Song as cover / replacment for the defensive midfield role ?? He is available on a free as Barcelona don't want him and he is only 26
Worth a punt ? or not ?

Are they serious about this Joe Allen for 20 million to Manchester? We shouldn't sell to those scum, but hell, 20 million for Joe "Average" Allen? I'd snap their hand off! Joe is a good lad but no more than a squad player and is definitely not worth 20 million. Also, If they sign him it will probably mean that they won't be going for Vidal, a player that can actually make a difference for them. Must be a bunch of media ***** though, surely?

Liverpool are still pushing to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to keep adding to his squad.
The Reds were first linked with Song two weeks ago with reports in Spain suggesting a deal was close, but all links with the Cameroon international have since died off.
However, El Mundo Deportivo says Liverpool are still firmly in the race for the player and are hopeful of signing Song on loan.
Arsenal and Marseille have also made approaches for the out of favour player, but Liverpool are keen to add to their midfield options, and Song is the priority.
Barca are thought to be desperate for a permanent deal for about £10million, but Liverpool are keen on a loan first, with a view to a permanent switch next summer.
