What is the point?

What is the point in the dozy bint selling sea shells on the sea shore, when any burk could go and pick one off the beach? It's not like they'd have to walk any further! Infact, they'd probably find a suitable sea shell before they got to her sea-shell-selling store.

What I want to know is why the thick cow decided to sell them on the beach, and not in Darlington or some other place far removed from the sea-shell industry.

You wouldn't try to sell a farmer soil, would you? Or a fricking Orchid owner oranges!

What is the point, and why did the bank manager lend her the money to start her ridiculous business? Didn't her husband/partner give her a good slap on the back of the head for even contemplating such an idea?
How about the bank manager? Did he get sacked for being such a complete goon? At the very least I would expect he got the beating of his life back at home that night when his wife found out he'd lent some ropey old tart £50k to start a sea-shell-selling shop. I'd think he spent a few nights in the spare room with his miniture Totem pole "Barry" as his only friend.

What a malarky. What do you lot reckon?  :no

Actually i think that rythme orginated from a true story.

There was this young lady who used to collect sea shells somehere in wales (i think) when she started to stumble upon fossils. At the time i believe the debate started by Darwin, evolution, was in full swing. Well the first fossil she found, was given to a professor who identified it - it proved something quite important (but i can't remember what).

Anyway she ended up spending the rest of her life collecting fossils from the beach and selling them. I am led to believe the identification of fossils from all the other crap on the beach was/is a real talent. In the end she is attributed to discovering more new fossillised species than just about anyone else.

That actually happened, but whether it relates to the rhytme (or indeed your poll), i have no idea.

She sells sea shells on the sea shore....for low prices because she hires illegal Chinese immigrants to pick them before the tide comes in.
