What is time?

Well. It's certainly a man-made concept.

There was no time before man. Just events in a vast expanse. It is humans who decided to create a scale by which events could be charted.
Just like a map, time is a ceaseless product of our ancestors' desire to regulate the body clock, maintain a sense of continuation and balance, and ensure they could get to the pub before closing!!!!!!!  :D

I think you'll find you're wrong there, you judicial son of a b*tch!

Concept: 1. "A general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences."
2. "Something formed in the mind; a thought or notion."

Whomever invented time, I'm prepared to wager, thought about it before they created it!!!!! :eyebrow

They will also have based the entire thing around the occurrences of the Sun rising and setting. :p

Time is man made. There was no time before man decided he wanted to know when to be out of the house as to avoid his mother-in-law!!!!!

Think about it: Time is nothing in space. There are no seconds, minutes, hours, etc. These are just scales invented by man to measure existance.

And also so we knew how long to boil an egg.  :D

Time is not an elementary concept. We do not have a sense for time. Time is a concept based on elementary concepts. We observe distance, velocity and oscillatory movements but not time. In physics we say that time is distance divided by velocity. Do not confuse "time" with a sequence of events. Several sensations are stored in the order they occurred. That is primary information, it is something existing in our brains or the computer memory of an artificial intelligent system.
