The following six players have been nominated by the public (from 1 million votes received) for FIFA inaugural Best Young Player Award at the World Cup.

Lionel Messi - Argentina
Christiano Ronaldo - Portugal
Lukas Podolski - Germany
Tranquilo Barnetta - Switzerland
Ces Fabregas - Spain
Luis Valencia - Equador

The winner will be decided by FIFA's technical study group.

Who would you vote for??

On face value I would have voted for Lionel Messi but he didn't play the role in this WC that I thought he might, for reasons best known to Pekerman, the Argentinian manager. Therefore I will opt for Lukas Podolski.

ckay suggested that everyone vote for velancia (ecuador) because he is the closest to Ronaldo. Noone wants to see that cheat get the award. get voting people

oops i just checked it the ratings again, looks like Valencia has overtaken the dirty diver. Great news.

The vote for Ronaldo was also helped by a concerted effort from scotland similar to the one for Luis Valencia.Some scots are just sooo bitter
