Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Postby H_K_LFC » Wed May 10, 2006 12:45 pm

Manchester United have joined Liverpool, Newcastle Utd and Tottenham in the race to sign striker Obefami Martins from Inter Milan. The Reds are thought to be offering cash and Fernando Morientes. United may offer out-of-favour Ruud van Nistelrooy, rumoured to be a target for Rafael Benitez.

Do you think there is any truth to this story  ???

Wouldn't mind him, he's only 21 and isn't a bad striker and could be one of the better strikers in the world for years to come

I wouldn't sign him for what I think Inter will want in terms of a transfer fee.

Adriano though is another story. :D

Just went to that link and saw this laughable rumour. "Liverpool will offer Djibril Cisse in a swap deal for Arsenal’s Thierry Henry."

Honestly who comes up with such rubbish!?

I rate him better than Cisse but I highly doubt he'll be leaving Inter anytime soon.

Don't rate Martin's as highly as Bent or Defoe as both these players
have prem experience , Martin's could come to prem and we find he's no good .
waste of money

Considering most people in here base their knowledge on players outside the premiership on Football Manager or Fifa Manager 06. Martins would be a great pick up.. Opps but we would not need to shop around because Morientes would be still scoring... Hmmm reality.

haven't we already had this conversation? From the previous discussion, I seem to remember that his records are poor and that his attitude is terrible.

Martins is only 21, has huge potential, scored something like 19 goals last season but hasn't been so good this one.

Obefami Martins has pure pace but not much else. Is probably a better player than Cisse but isn’t really what we want in my opinion. I don’t think there is any truth in this story.

Didn’t it recently get found out that he isn’t really 21, he is about 30 something.

Has any one actually watched him play week in week out in Italy? We do not get much coverage of Serie A in Australia besides weekly highlights and a few games on pay tv which generally clash with the premiership.

There is many players that had good records in other leagues to come to the premiership and not perform as expected. Morientes, Drogba, that drugged :censored: guy that also played at chelsea, and a certain other chelsea striker who looks like he is heading back to Italy.

I would have included Cisse but we tend to forget the guy is lucky to me walking after breaking his leg last year. As frustrating as he is he still has a good ratio in the premiership.
