Pfa team of the season - What ballacks

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby Owzat » Fri Apr 27, 2007 2:00 pm

I know this isn't breaking news but I didn't see any previous thread on the subject

PFA Premier League Team of the Year:

Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra (all Man Utd); Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo (all Man Utd) and Steven Gerrard (Liverpool); Didier Drogba (Chelsea) and Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6582201.stm

It's so obvious people see the scum top of the league and just pick half their team. Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo probably do deserve their places but Finnan's been better than Neville ffs. And Chelsea have the best defence ahead of us and then possibly the scum in third so how did they clean sweep at the back?!?!?!?! JOKE

Whoever picked the team is absolutely clueless. How Van Der Sar got in the team ahead of someone whos actually had a good season like David James is beyond me, he seems to make a big mistake every game these days. Carvalho and Finnan should have easily got into the back four, and Evra is pretty :censored: at defending for a defender.

For you to say Finnan has been better than United's captain is a very bold statement.

As much as I despise that horrible little :censored:. He's an excellent full back and I can't see how anyone can dispute that.

I also think you're not taking into account the fact United play a far more expansive game than both ourselves and Chelsea yet still have have a comparible defensive record which I think again, unfortunately, whether we like it or not, shows the quality of their defenders.

The goalkeeping issue for me I'd take both Pepe and Cech ahead of van Der Sar, but Cech's hardly played this season, when he has he's made a massive difference to Chelsea.

How Berbatov got in there though I'll never know. :no

Always a token 'out of the top 4' player to appease the fans.
Berbatov has played well, but so have about 10 other strikers. Id put Doyle ahead of Berbatov purely for the fact hes playing with less back up and makes a lot more himself out of the situations hes had and were it not for his injury hed be up with the top goal scorers of the season.

The REAL PFA team of the year.....

GK James (Portsmouth)
LB Evra (Manure)
CB Carragher (Liverpool)
CB Carvalho (Chelski)
RB Neville?? (Manure) - Not too sure about this position, any suggestions???
RM Ronaldo (Manure)
LM Giggs (Manure)
CM Scholes (Manure)
CM Essien (Chelski)
ST Drogba (Chelski)
ST McCarthy (Blackburn)

Still far too many manure players in there but they really have been the best players in the premiership this season.  From Liverpool only Carra an Finnan deserve any mention, possibly Pepe.  Arsenal.... no-one. henry hasnt turned up and fabregas has underperformed.  Essien has been chelseas best midfielder ahead of lampard and ballack and i think mccarthy has done alot more than berbatov and others this season (am i right in thinking berbatov has only 8 goals in the league (less than kuyt).  Rip my team apart if you please....

Even if he is an "excellent full back" this is based on THIS season and Neville has missed a fair portion of it

Berbatov has been terrific for spudz, mostly in Europe to begin with but has also been pretty handy in the Premiership - 11 Premiership goals, 5 strikers are on 12 and a select band of 3 players have 14 or more (Drogba, McCarthy and Looney) He also has 10 assists which is pretty good for spudz

Players Football Association. The team consisted of votes by fellow professionals in the Premiership. I think they know a bit more about the fellow players than any of us do.

Of course they do. They spend a lot of time together roasting young girls.

Carragher should have definately been in there, he is consistently outstanding

Yes, he's good I will admit. Though Rio has shown his class for us this season, Vidic has been a rock, Carvalho has been good, as has  Agger. I believe that Rio and Vidic have been the best pairing this season though, which is why they have come out top.

Statistically they aren't. Chelsea have the best defence in the Prem and LFC are second best in terms of goals conceded (at the time of this post). It's Man Utd's attacking power that has brought them the title in England.
