Writing from 8 time zones away - have only had the chance to see one Premiership type game in my life (Charity Shield 1979 - Reds 3 Arsenal 2) at Wembley.
Being a North American, I was only used to "manufactured" excitement where the PA announcer tells you to cheer to the organ grinder and do the wave etc - it was an amazing revelation to just listen at Wembley - constant thunderous noise for 2 hours - never forgotten it. Great result didn't hurt either - lovely goal by one K. Dalgliesh I still remember.
Now I am old and have some cash I would like to come to England and take in a few games. I have heard the atmosphere at most grounds has declined in the past 25 years - from what I can tell from satellite TV the Kop is still in good form - any advice on which other grounds would be worth a visit?
I might also add that yesterday's game had some of the best spells of football I have seen in a very long time - quite honestly the only two teams playing at that level are the reds and the russians. It was a treat to watch the Hammers eventually fold like a cheap tent.
