How does he know he does not want him? he hasnt even tried to see if andy can fit in! If after the usa tour he says

"i tried and andy does not work"

Then fine, Who next Carra? im sure he fits the "style" We are talking about this style of play that he wants to use and anyone that he deems unable to play in that way (with or without seeing him) should be bombed out? Good bye half the squad

Carra's not got a chance.. he's a hoofer.

The new owners don't seem to have too much money, so we probably need to sell someone to bring in some funds.

I wasn't expecting them to come in and spend like Mansour or Abramovich but I thought we would at least be past the whole 'sell before you buy' dynamic'. Have they not got any of their own money to spend?

Carroll was funded by the sale of Torres so they should at least be prepared to pump in 20-30Mil besides that. I'm thankful for them clearing the debt and everything but if they are serious about breaking back into the top 4 they need to put their money where their mouths are.

Me to. Mind you they did fork out 16/20M on Henderson and another 20M-ish on Downing.

Perhaps it's a case of 'once bitten, twice shy', either that or they don't have anymore money to spend.

Perhaps... but my next thought would be 'so they are only good for 1 season of big spending'? How many colossal fk ups have the other teams made with transfers. You move on by buying someone else and selling the flop on later ect... I really hope that's not their mentality because if that's the case, new stadium or not, we will NEVER compete for top 4 let alone the title. Also they should ditch the stats moneyball thing, it doens't work in football, hope they have realised that by now.

apparently they have broken even so far, the money they have layed out on transfers has been offset by selling players and making big savings in terms of trimming the wage bill.
fsg arent interested in spending their own money to make liverpool successfull, they want the club to be self sufficient, they even said if the new fair play rules werent in the pipeline they wouldnt have bought a footy club because they werent prepared to go into open ended auctions against russian and arab multi billionaires for players.
which is fair enough i suppose but i cant see us catching the top clubs with that philosophy, those fair play rules wont stop rich clubs spending big money, look at psg.

If that's the case then IMO they have already failed. Also what bearing does FFP have on us if we are not even in the Champions League? It's a bit like saying I'm not gonna do my weekly shop at M&S when the only shops near me are Aldi or Lidl. Show me any side in the last 10 years who's success has NOT been down to it's owners spending money, big money. Another way of asking the same question, show me 1 successfull side in the last 10 years who have self provided for themselves.

In order to be self sufficient we need to first get to that level. Getting to that level is 2 parts, getting our squad up to scratch and the stadium. The latter is not going to happen over night so are they going to simply fart around for 3 years till it's done and then allow us to spend more?

This isn't an attack on FSG btw but I'm not happy with the way we are conducting ourselves in the transfer market. We are showing the ambitions of a club who seems happy with being a mid table side.

LMAO - love it!!!

I hope that Brendan Rogers, who by the way hasnt even got all his players back yet, takes his time to see what we actually need to buy.  Also I suppose it might take a bit longer to buy players than it does when "we" (by that I mean the muppets) by players on our xbox/wii/playstation etc.  Who knows we might even be working on deals right now!!!!  :rasp
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

also weren't we in serious debt when they took over? lets get realistic here. If they'd not bought us we would have gone under and possbily be in administration or worse.

Yes it would be nice to splash money on the big names but we are not the power house we used to be we've not seen in the Champions league, which is a massive amount of captial to any club.

And Rogers has been in charge for all of a few months with the transfer window open for a massive 2 weeks !!!!!!

the people on this forum seem to be living by the saying YNWA unless you are paying tens of millions on players and doing so every week until the transfer window closes.

Apparently Carroll hasn't travelled with the rest of the squad today as he played in the Euros but will be travelling with the rest of the England players later this week.

I think Carroll, Gerrard, Henderson and Downing are due back next Monday so they’ll fly straight out to the US I imagine. Reina and Borini are probably due back later as they went all the way to the final. Agger was back in training this morning.
