fair point, he would my third choice behind hyppia, but thats for his leadership skills which you have noted, but not for the facts he's a homegrown player, it makes no diffrence! the best captains are the best leaders on the pitch, not coz of were they are from
Its always much better for the supporters if a home grown lad is the captain though. No one could have questioned Sami's commitment to the job when he was the skipper but when Stevie took over i was overjoyed. Its like he was representing the supporters and there is that bond that you have with the local lads. Fowler, Aldo etc

if you look at alot of the top teams around they dont have local players as captains and there supporters adore them, e.g. Keane, Viera. Of course it is good to have a local player as captain but if he is not the best choice for the captain he shouldnt be captain
this is a very interesting topic as far as i'm concerned.
as many of you i'm sure will remember, i started a thread on here about a month ago, questioning whether steven gerrard was the right man to be liverpool captain in the first place. as brilliant as the guy is, a captain should be someone who inspires others around him. i don't see gerrard doing that. at the time i expected a torrent of abuse but a majority of forum members actually agreed with me.
as for the next captain, i would go for jamie, as he is extremely vocal and a natural leader. however i would put my money on sami being restored as captain. as he has done it before.
