Defour? Aquillani? Poulsen? Brilliant, I can't wait  :(

i no what u mean mate, im not very confident with what Rafa will do with the money, got a bad feeling he will blow it on someone average.

Since when did he blow big money on an average player?  I think you have him mistaken for Ferguson.

It also appears that this fella Purslow has done a good job on negotiating the deal, much better than fecking Parry  so fair play to him for that.

Completely agree. Their team is starting to look ridiculously good.

Robben, Alonso, Kaka and Ronaldo is some midfield.

They have quite a few excess players now, it's a pity we couldn't have negotiated for Sneijder and Negredo.

£11.5M on Babel.

£6.7M (it was big at the time) on Pennant.

£18M on Keane.

I had him down a few weeks back as worth between 25-27 based on last seasons form and the transfer market today, so we've definately done well financially.

Mick, I think last Summer you rated him about £16M ? :D

And I think that was about what most of the media were saying he was being touted for.

So, I guess we have Xabi to thank for putting in such a great effort last season which resulted in
such a big rise in his price.

Anyone who feels animosity towards Xabi is deluded and bitter.

Last Summer I actually rated him at "low teens" Eff, and got slaughtered for it. Fortunately for us, everybody else rated him at the same price and Rafa was unable to get anyone to pay 16 million for him.

That was after two indifferent seasons though, whereas last season he was immense for us which obviously jacked up the price. Allied to that is the fact that for Madrid's "project", they desperately needed a player such as Xabi. I think in truth THIS is the reason why we have managed to squeeze the price over 25 million, this and the fact he is Spanish etc etc. Anyways like IK said, fair do's it's good money for a player such as Alonso. I've got a strong feeling Rafa would have been looking to spice up central midfield anyway as we don't score or create enough goals from there, so lets now just cross our fingers that the last 12 months have been a blip in terms of Rafa's transfer dealings, and they aren't going to turn into a bliiiiiiiiiiip.

I think replacing Alonso with the top quality player we need is vital. Despite the fact he rarely scored and rarely assisted, he did contribute to our rhythm and shape hugely. If we bring somebody in who completely flops, we will struggle to make the top 3 I think.

I was under the impression that Rafa didn't want Keane and that it was Parry's idea to bring him to LFC.

Dead right mate. First thing Rafa knew about the whole thing was when there was some bloke mooching around the car park at Melwood with a beanie hat on. Rafa overheard the Irish accent and told one of his assistants to "get rid of the facking Pikeys no?" (his favourite film is "Snatch" and he facking hates pikeys).

With regards to some people saying Madrid are going to win the CL, how can you say that when they haven't even played together yet and they might not gel at all, granted they now have a good looking team but a team is nothing without spirit
