Perez: Hello?
Rafa: Ola, I'd like to buy the Van der Vaart you advertised for sale in the papers.
Perez: Ah, excellent. He's a great little runner and he's available for £13m.
Rafa: £13m?! Well that sounds perfect.
Perez: Si, may I take your name please?
Rafa: It's Rafael Benitez...B..E..N..I..T..E..Z.
Perez: Oh...um...er...hello Mr. Benitez. Would you like to pay the £25m by cash or cheque?
Rafa: £25m? I thought you said £13m.
Perez: Did I say 25? I meant £30m.

Roma Hampered By Injuries Ahead Of Europa League Clash With Gent - Report
The Giallorossi face an injury battle before taking to the field for European action against Gent...
28 Jul 2009 10:40:14

Roma are struggling with a number of injuries to key players ahead of their Europa League match with Gent on Thursday.

The Giallorossi clash with the Belgian outfit in the first-leg, third qualifying round, at the Stadio Olimpico. Luciano Spalletti will have a selection headache though as he is unlikely to be able to field his strongest starting XI.

Romanews.eu claims Doni, Cincinho, Marco Cassetti, Simone Perrotta and Julio Baptista were unable to train with the rest of the squad on Tuesday morning. Those players worked in the gym with Baptista struggling with a muscular injury.

Alberto Aquilani and Juan had physiotherapy and their appearances are in doubt. Mirko Vucinic and Jeremy Menez trained separately from the rest of the squad also. Matteo Brighi is in doubt with a knee problem. The midfielder is unlikely to feature.

The second leg will take place on August 6 in Belgium. The winners qualify for a two-leg play-off round. Winners from the play off round make it through to the group stages in September.

********************************************

FFS all their players are injured... Totti is ALWAYS injured.. Vucinic, Aquilani the same... pretty much every important player they had has been struggling with injuries in recent times...

Whenever i've seen Aquilani i've been impressed with the guy... hes very good on the ball and is more exciting to watch than most of the player we have in the side... Buying him for the reported 15mill or so would be good business imo.. would leaves us with just about enough funds to bring in much needed backups for our CBs and FW...

Is this a rumour???

Real Madrid have reportedly agreed to match Liverpool's valuation for Xabi Alonso.
The Daily Post is reporting that Real are ready to pay £30m for Alonso after they agreed to sell Wesley Sneijer to Inter Milan for £18m. Liverpool officials apparently met with the Spanish club ahead of their friendly with Espanyol last night to thrash out a deal.

Roma must question their training methods ??? , Jesus christ that is one long list
of injured players.

Their is more to Aquilani's injury problems than him being a sick note if that list is anything
to go by.

Dundalk wrote:Alberto Aquilani
Age: 25
Nationality: Italian
Club: AS Roma
Position: Central midfielder
Value: £16 million

Career History:
He began his career with his hometown club Roma in 2002, and apart from a loan spell at Triestina he has been with them ever since, making over 100 appearances to date.

Playing Style:
He is a central midfielder known for his excellent passing, powerful long shots, and all round technical ability. He likes to receive the ball centrally and use his excellent passing to build his teams attacks.

Strengths:
His main strengths are his Passing, vision, and shooting. He also has very good game intelligence and excellent technique.

Weaknesses:
Defensively his game is not as good as it could be. He also lacks strength and has proven to be prone to injury.

What Next?
He recently signed a contract extension at Roma who he has supported since he was a child and may be reluctant to leave. But he looks like a readymade replacement for Xabi Alonso, and the money on offer from Liverpool might be too good for Roma to turn down if Rafa Benitez makes a move.

Ratings:
• Overall: 8.3
• Shooting: 8.0
• Passing: 8.5
• Heading: 7.5
• Tackling: 7.5
• Pace: 7.9
• Work-rate: 7.0
• Crossing: 7.5
• Creativity: 8.7
• Dribbling: 8.0

could you post Alonso's ratings from the same site. maybe sneijder's too if you could.
