Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez is getting impatient waiting for Xabi Alonso, and is considering paying 4m euros for Getafe's Esteban Granero as a quick alternative. (Marca)

You are right, its not that simple! 4m is a buy back clause with Getafe for a player they own his rights, just like Negredo. The money does not in any way reflect his IMMENSE talents.

Like I stated earlier, the real concern is about his health, not his abilities...

Good news i think...

Report: Liverpool Will Sell Xabi Alonso To Real Madrid For Wesley Sneijder Plus Cash

The only way for Los Merengues to land Alonso without paying his asking price is to include Sneijder as part of the deal...

19 Jul 2009 20:15:06

Xabi Alonso's move to Real Madrid is back on the cards, with Liverpool reportedly willing to consider a deal if Wesley Sneijder is included.

Alonso is seemingly intent on a move to the Bernabeu, but thus far the two clubs have failed to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

According to The Times, however, Liverpool are now willing to accept a cut-price deal, if Wesley Sneijder is included in the package. The Reds are currently demanding €37million, a fee that Los Merengues are unwilling to match.

Despite the belief that all the Dutch players at Real Madrid are for sale, Manuel Pellegrini has stated that he considers Sneijder to be a vital part of the side. However, he might be willing to part with the Dutch midfielder in order to land Alonso.

It is expected that Alonso will not join the Liverpool squad on their pre-season tour to Asia, as both clubs continue to negotiate.

Think so, in a way i want alonso there but if we can get two young players as replacements (Sneijder and Young/Silva) then i wouldn't mind too much if he was to go.

To be honest Mascherano is probably the one out of the 2 that most people would have preferred to see go. Not that those people don't like Masch but he is the more one dimensional out of the 2. But I trust Rafa whatever he does so....

Would be great if we got Sneijder in a swap deal + cash  :;):

We could also get Silva then.

And i would rather Alonso left than Mascherano because Masch is only young and a world class player still improving.

Someone in another thread said he may not leaving.. How long has he left on his contract? If him staying for another season results in him handing in a transfer request next summer and we have to sell him at a cut price because he wont re-sing then i'd rather cash in now!

On a side note i would love to see us buy Ashley Young!

I think he has 3 years left on his contract mate , so it shouldn't really have much effect on his price if he did stay another season. Madrid may not be as desperate to sign a Spanish player next season though, and that may have a big effect on his price.
