The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

He seems to me a bit like veron - in the fact of needing lots of space and time on the ball to play his game - he gets that at inter but not sure he would be afforded such space in the prem and would be hassled of the ball too easily .

You may have a point mate, but he is not a small player (I realise size is not everything), and when he played against Liverpool a few seasons ago for Madrid (pre season tournement?) he tore us apart.

Its very hard to decide whether someone will adapt to the physical side and pace of our League.

I still think he would be a good option  :rasp  :D

Agreed saint , cambiasso is a cracking player, like you say a mixture of xabi and mascherano . If i remember rightly he does like to get stuck in aswell . Gets further forward than are two and is great at interlinking the play further up the pitch . Would be a good buy i reckon . How old is he though , as he seems to have been going years?

I am not sure but I think he is similar to Xabi in age mate. He was very young when he went to Madrid (he is younger than Aimar if thats any help lol)

Date of birth August 18, 1980 (1980-08-18) (age 28) wiki

Im not on about his weight or height or size more of his thought process and descion making needing time and space - pretty much like veron - great player when given that time and space but when its closed down and the pace is furious cant see he keeping up .

If i remember rightly ,he played pretty well against us GYBS mate in the two games we had against inter . From what i've seen of him he likes to play quick one two's and lay the ball off in threatening posistions . Also at 28 , he's still got a good few years in him . Obviously i don't want either mascherano or alonso to go ,but if one or both did i think he would be a good buy ,when there's not that many out there tbh .

All i remember of that vallbuena geeza is the screamer he scored against us when marseille beat us at afield two season's ago . He seems to have pretty nifty footwork if i remember.

Valbuena ?! small stocky player ? looks like he is made of bricks but have to agree looked pretty good against us . From what i remember of cambiasso is chasing the shadow of torres and gerrard all day , guess just dont rate him and never really have

From what little I've seen of him, Cambiasso is an excellent player.  I'd still rather hold onto Xabi and Masch, mind, but he'd be a suitable replacement if one of them goes.

Can someone tell me when all the lads ae due back for pre season, Cant be two far away if Johnson is giving a press interview . I know Xabi is off whoreing with his mrs but it will be interesting to see what happens if an when Masherano an him turn up. Surely Masherano has to be back on day one like,

read something off rawk which made an interesting point... it might have been said on here before but

Fordy:
So you really think that Xabi told Rafa what his feeling were?

If it was I want to go then Barry would be a liverpool player now. I fully believe that Xabi didnt say :censored: to Rafa about his future hence when asked by the press after the Spurs game he said I dont know if I will be playing for Liverpool next season.

If Xabi wanted to stay then why not come out and say so put this all to bed. Why :censored: about?

This has nothing to do with agents, managers its all Xabi's doing. He can end all this one way or another but he is choosing not too.

Showing his desire is respectful. Its respectful to the liverpool fc, the fans and Madrid. We need to know whats what as he would be a hard player to replace but if he wants to stay then we have to build for next season.

Time to grow a pair Xabi. Its getting boring now.

i kinda agree with the sentiment. I know xabi doesnt have to say anything, and from his point of view it just keeps his options open, but it really would be nice to hear from him

I say if Alonso want's to go let him.

Why everybody is so in love with the guy i don't know.

If Barca offered Iniesta for 10mil on top that we had to pay them i would drive Alonso
to the airport myself :D

He's a great player but he's obviously want's to go, so let him.
