Have football clubs not heard of emails or faxes or even the telephone ffs?
No need to interupt all the shagging :wwww

No man can think sensibly when he's on the job :D one mistimed phone call and he'd end up agreeing to go to wrexham for £3.50 a week!

Latest from Madrid:

"Xabi Alonso is a priority if he fits into our budget, and this doesn't seem the case. We are very far from the figures that Liverpool have set out,'' Valdano was quoted as telling Spanish radio station Onda Madrid.

Valdano added on Cadena Ser: "Liverpool have taken up a difficult stance over Xabi Alonso. I don't like to talk about the private details of negotiations.

"We are studying many alternatives. We want someone who can channel the play and there aren't many like that in the world.''

With plenty of time before the transfer window closes and with a number of big-name signings already wrapped up, Valdano insists the Spanish giants have no great urgency to complete their summer shopping spree, though.

"After the great players who have arrived, we aren't in a hurry,'' he said.

"(We want) two signings, maximum three. That's the number with which the team will be able to cover all eventualities.

"With the arrival of Benzema, we are not going to sign (Valencia striker David) Villa. We are happy to have got the Frenchman. He is 21, powerful, and is enthusiastic and eager.''

That's what I like to hear.  Too often Madrid have operated on the notion that they can simply turn a player's head and then his current club will cave and sell him for peanuts.  About time clubs started playing hardball with them.  The Mancs presumably did so last summer and now we seem to be digging in our heels.  I guess Martin O'Neill taught us something last summer.

Sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere-

Taken from Gulliem Balague's site.

Both Sport and Mundo Deportivo are claiming that at least there does appear to be some movement on one of Guardiola`s primary targets, with Javier Mascherano reportedly applying pressure on Liverpool to allow him to fulfill his ambition of moving to Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo: “ Mascherano has also instructed his representatives to begin a formal dialogue with Liverpool in order to persuade them to sell him to Barcelona. As well as being attracted by the possibility of playing for the European Champions, he has also had his head turned by compatriot Lionel Messi who has been making him very jealous with tales of the fantastic lifestyle in Catalunya.” According to MD, Mascherano and his family have been unable to settle in England and a combination of the bad weather and lifestyle in England has had Mr Mascherano, Mrs Mascherano and all the little Mascheranos yearning for some stale bread with tomato rubbed on it.

According to Marca, Mascherano`s “increasingly likely” move to Barcelona has effectively scuppered Real Madrid`s chances of signing Xabi Alonso; while AS are reporting that there are at least 47 million other reasons why Liverpool`s Spanish midfielder will not be going to the Bernabeu – €47 million roughly translates as the conversion rate of the £40 million transfer fee that Liverpool have slapped on Alonso.

AS are also reporting that Alvaro Arbeloa`s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, has effectively agreed personal terms on behalf of the player with Real Madrid, but that the Spanish side are only willing to part with €4 million for the Liverpool player`s services; Anfield have valued Arbeloa at €9 million, according to AS. The Madrid based paper believes that, should Real fail in their attempt to sign Arbeloa for that amount, then they may turn their attention to Gael Clichy – which is interesting, considering that AS writes that the Arsenal defender is valued at €17 million.

So they admit that they want someone who can channel the play and that "there aren't many like the the world" and they don't want to meet the asking price??? What a load of :censored:...   all they care about is how much marketable a player is so that the players can repay them with the image rights... I'm sorry to say that a great club like Real is on a policy like this...  :no

A bit shocked that we still have no end to this, he was in talks with our club last week and if that is true it would seem that his mind was and is still set on moving or we would have hread about him staying.
the longer this runs the more i feel he will or already has gone.

Nothing will happen till the deal with his old club expires ,

I think its 16th of this month , they'll probably make a bid on 17th.
