Again I ask, where the bloody hell are Real Madrid financing this from? Just how big are they becuase this really doesn't make any frigging sense now. You can imagine that Kaka has probably got a similar deal. To bankroll this they wouldhave to be earnign an enormous amount in merchandising, far far more than most other top clubs combined.
I mean who the feck has ever seen anyone in a Real Madrid shirt becuase I can't remember the last time I did. Plenty of Barca shirts, Manure, Liverpool, Arsenal, AC Milan etc but not Real Madrid. Are they just completely phony like Chelsea or is there some huge hidden market somewhere, does everyone in China and India support Real Madrid maybe?

If Real Madrid are going bad they suck the governments balls..likewise in return!! :D

If the Spanish govt are going bad Real help them..that is why they can do what they want!!
Basically Real Madrid are Spains tax income (apart from tourism of course)

The big deal it´s not the merchandising and sale of T-shirts but the image rights of young and good looking stars like kaká or Ronaldo.
At the end is more effective and profitable economically to invest 70 millions on those guys rather than on a 20 million player like Sneijder or Robbie keane.
Florentino Perez always retains at least the 50% of the image rights of all the Real Madrid players in order to pay high wages.

Real Madrid has spent in the last three years 275 millions of euros on players like Pepe, sneijder, Robben, Van Nistelroy, Van Der vaart, Higuain, Marcelo, Heinze.... That´s a big amount, and they are more devalued than ever.
It´s preferable spend 200 millions the first year on the best players of the world and make profitable the invests dominating the football world trade overtaking the rest of clubs.

Where they can get 200 millions from?
Bank credits and television contracts.
The next years the money comes easily from marketing, new television rights from Asia and America, image rights for publicity and spots of your stars, the tours, ect.
When you have in your team to Ronaldo, kaka, Villa, Xabi Alonso, ect your image rights just shoot up.

Actually Madrid are the most supported club worldwide and they sell more shirts than anyone... by quite a big margin.... If you travel around (especially in Asia and the states) you'd notice that...
Add to that the fact that they have the best sponsorship and merchandise deals in club football, again by quite some margin from the next closest thing and it all starts to add up.. Around 55% or more (dropped after loss of Beckham and change in some sponsorship deals) i'd say of their money comes from commercial activity... another 10% or so from merchandise and so... In terms of revenue they made 130mill from commercial activity alone last year and that represented a significant drop from years before (again same reasons as above).... Manutd the 2nd richest club made around 80mill (which is a significant increase for them) and Liverpool (7th in worlds richest clubs list) made around 65mill...

Thats the major difference between them and other clubs.. no government stuff and all that.. maybe with interest rates and banking and all that i wouldnt know...

Liverpool bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo

Rafa Benitez has made a £6million offer for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Negredo – but faces competition from Valencia.

Cash-strapped Valencia want Negredo, 23, to be part of any deal for striker David Villa, who is a £35m target for Real.

Madrid sold hitman Negredo to Almeira in 2007 but exercised a £4m option to re-buy him – even though he is likely to be sold this summer
Liverpool boss Benitez believes Negredo has huge potential but might only be able to land him by making Xabi Alonso available to Madrid.

If Rafa sells Alonso for this pill of :censored: then he has lost the plot.

That's the kind of thing they were saying on SSN as I said somewhere else if not earlier in this thread.

They're not regarded as the biggest club in the world by a lot of people for no reason. I heard ages ago that they never sign defenders and low profile players because that's not the way they work.

Anyone doubting the impact of "image rights" should consider this. A fair few years ago Anna Kournikova, allegedly a tennis player but mostly a teenager's wet dream, was high on the top sports earners list. I think she was on or worth something like £7m and barely any of that was through playing tennis. I bet Beckham is desperate to play for England to maintain his public image, perhaps found the money dipped when he went to play in the US of A and missed playing football. My sister saw him when she was in the US, filming something or other I think she said.

I bet "Ronaldo 7" shirt sales will rake in many millions alone, didn't they reserve the number or something? I used to work with a manc fan, he bought a Milan Beckham shirt. I bet a lot of the young girlies reputedly "supporting" the mancs because of him may well "switch allegiance". It's a sad aspect of society, obsession with celebs.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

REAL MADRID are offering Arjen Robben to Liverpool in a straight swap for Xabi Alonso.

Kop boss Rafa Benitez is reluctant to sell Spanish midfield star Alonso and has already turned down an £18million bid.

But Real will also try to tempt Benitez by offering an alternative deal of £18m cash plus Gabriel Heinze if he turns down Dutch winger Robben.

Real need to raise cash after signing Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo for a combined £142m.

And former Chelsea star Robben is their most marketable asset.

Real Madrid sources say that Liverpool put a £27m price tag on Alonso. By offering Robben, president Florentino Perez can avoid splashing out another massive fee.

But Benitez could be wary of the Dutchman's woeful injury record since his £27m move to the Bernabeu two years ago.

And the prospect of bringing in full-back Heinze could be far more tempting one for the Anfield boss.

Benitez targeted the Argie defender two years ago when he left Manchester United.

Back then, Alex Ferguson blocked the deal and Heinze ended up at Real.

But Benitez is still looking for a reliable left-back, and Heinze fits that bill.

Owzat can you please do us a spreadsheet on how much revenue Real Madrid make compared to us? That would be interesting reading, or is it maybe on another thread already? I just don't understand why they are so much bigger than every other team in the world, why are they so popular? They must be borrowing big from the banks to make these transfers or are they really so cash rich?

Simon Chadwick, the director of Sport International Business Centre of the University of Coventry has calculated that Ronaldo and Kaka will produce 60 million pounds each one per year for Real Madrid. With Ronaldo in the anglosaxon market and kaká in the latin market, Real Madrid is going to be the first sportive brand name in the world.
His conclusion is that in a couple of years they will have recovered their cost in full and increase the benefits.

I think Tevez wants leave, he is really hurt with Ferguson. He considers himself a star and Ferguson treated him like a second plate.

Maybe they read what I said, it's a pretty obvious thing to do when someone's just come into some money................

I'd hate to think clubs would let the mancs have an easy time acquiring reinforcements, they didn't exactly give Madrid an easy time getting Ronaldo and we had to put up with rumours for 12+ months
Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! My Owzat account is locked by a seeming flaw in the board system. I changed my e-mail address, but that left me needing to be re-activated and therefore powerless to even post or notify a mod.
