I've made my mind up, keep Alonso and tell Barry he had his chance and blew it.

Xabi's a good lad, a model professional and a world class player. What more do we need?

Had a few now, but given the oppotunity (as long as we arent losing a lot of money) would rather have Barry. Imo he is a player that next season would have a bigger impact on our team.

its hardly Barry's fault that Villa won't sell him, is it?

Whats the difference?   Liverpool need to send the message to Villa that we dont get messed around.

We need to rebuild our image as well as our team. We need some respect.

In Juve forums some one says that tomorrow Alonso will have the medical examination with Juve. What about it?

Can I make you a question?
If you think Alonso is a good player, why do you sell him?
Is Barry better than Xabi?

:D

Read this whole thread from the very beginning, mate.  When you're done, read the whole Barry thread from the beginning and you might get some answers to your questions.

I'm not reading too much into this, personally, but Rafa's choice of words are interesting.

From the offal...

PLAYERS RETURN TO MELWOOD
Jimmy Rice 30 June 2008
Eighteen members of Rafa Benitez's squad are back at Melwood today after their summer break.
Non-internationals such as Jamie Carragher, Steve Finnan and Sami Hyypia return today, though those who played for their country earlier in the summer will be given an extra week.

Spain heroes Fernando Torres, Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina will not return to training for another three weeks after leading their country to a first major honour since 1964.

Benitez said: "We have about 18 back today, then some of the internationals will be back in the next week. The four Spanish players should be back in three weeks."
