So how's a 25million Euro + Negredo + Sneijder deal sounds logical?

its shaping up like there is going to be a lot less Turkey in this years group stages. No Fenerbache, no Galatasary, and 2nd place Sivasspor lost their first leg 5-0. Its likely that only Besiktas will be involved.

Mihaylov, our keeper on loan at Twente came on in the middle of the game after the start got a red card, then saved the penalty and kept a clean sheet against Sporting Lisbon.

Portugal is getting the squeeze too. No Benfica, and its possible that only Porto will make the group stages.

Holland is also likely to have a low presence. No PSV, no Ajax. AZ is in the group stages with Twente representing their only other hope.

Celtic are fighting an uphill battle to be in the group stages as well.

Not only does Celtic have to over turn a 1-0 margin away to Dynamo Moscow, but then they would still have to get through the next round against an opponent like atletico madrid, stuttgart or fiorentina.

How does the current deal your putting in for Alonso sound logical?

I watched Real against a Saudi team and Real were lucky to escape a draw in the Andalucia Cup (?). They could well have lost that match and they were crying out for a Xabi type player. To waste 80million on Christiano when they needed a Xabi and now they complain about the price is laughable (as is the whole Real set-up). Christiano will not win important games but sell shirts, that is all.

He's not a bad player as it goes Sabes. If Marca are so sure though that he's such an adequate replacement for Alonso, how about Madrid sign him off of Wigan and leave us alone then?

The truth is that he's decent in a Scott Parkerish type of way.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping close tabs on Lee Cattermole's situation, skysports.com understands.

The Wigan midfielder had an outstanding maiden campaign at the DW Stadium following his arrival from hometown club Middlesbrough last season.

Cattermole also shone whilst on international duty with Stuart Pearce's U21s over the summer as he helped England to the final of the European Championship.

Now his former boss Steve Bruce, who moved to Sunderland earlier in the summer, is desperate to sign him again.

Having lodged two bids for Cattermole already this summer and had them rejected, Sunderland are reportedly ready to test Wigan's resolve with a £10million offer.

Wigan supremo Dave Whelan has been quick to dismiss Sunderland's interest in the player - but propositions from two of the top-four could be a different matter.

Manchester United prised Antonio Valencia from Wigan earlier this year, and now they could face a similar battle to try and keep Cattermole - should either or both Arsenal and Liverpool make concrete offers.

One snag for either Arsenal or Liverpool could be that they are unlikely to want to go as high as £10million, which Sunderland are ready offer.
