A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court in connection with a bleach attack on a woman who asked a group of youths to be quiet in a cinema.

The 46-year-old had bleach thrown in her face in a restaurant after earlier asking the group to be quiet during the new Harry Potter film.

The boy was arrested after the incident on 26 July in Kirkstall Road, Leeds.

He was remanded in custody at Leeds Youth Court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teenager will appear next before Leeds Magistrates' Court via video link on 7 August.

An application for bail was refused.

Another youth who was arrested on Saturday has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The woman was attacked at a Frankie and Benny's restaurant in front of her husband and two children after she asked a group of teenagers to stop making noise during a screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the Vue cinema.

Too often we are seeing this, youths doing all this, yet cannot be named. I say get photos on every tv show, paper etc etc and let everyone know the names of these scummers...

their court case will end up being titled something like Re A instead of R v Jackson or whatever name he/she has. its merely because they are still underage. if there is any other reason, im unaware of it. when i first saw this topic i started thinking of Lord Voldemort though - he who cant be named

I seen that in the news the other day and couldn't believe it, i agree with Dawson he should be named and shammed. WTF is wrong with people they they can do this to anyone, let alone a mother??

What I meant was you can just about imagine these scumbags out of their head doing it too each other, but to do it to a mother who told them to be quite at the cinema just shows they dont care who it is or where they are. They're fucked up scum

Surely to name someone BEFORE they are found guilty is wrong in itself?

Once the little tw*t IS found guilty, I say tattoo "I am a c*nt" on his forehead and boot his scrawny a*se round the papers.

at 16 they are old enough to marry, therefore cannot be considered a child, more of a sub-adult.

The first question I asked was, why was the little sod carrying bleach into a cinema? Or indeed why was he carrying bleach at all?

I think its fair to say the little sod knew what kind of damage it would cause and carried it for a reason.

I also agree. Why cant he be named? When I was 16 I left school, found work, left home, made a new life for myself and I am still living it. But the law now says he is too young to account for himself. Bull, the little sod knew exactly what he was doing and at 16, I consider him punchable by any adult. He is no longer a kid who doesnt know better. He is a teenager trying to hide behind a law that is a joke.
