A.B. wrote:I bet you were the same one who said that Josemi might suck when we signed him, and now you are probably praising him and will do the same with the rest of our players who you or others have critisized in the past.

Rafa has shown that he has an eye for talent. If you can not see that by now, then you might have a problem.

I have faith in the players, under Houllier players such as Biscan were horrible because they played in the position they shouldn't had.

So according to your statement every player has talent, I am not sure that the rest of the Liverpool fans would agree with that because some don't think that players such as Biscan have any talent.

I did not think Josemi will suck, purely on the basis of the price we paid for him, which in todays market is a good price for a solid defender.

with regards to talent, I did say varying degrees, some players have talent in abundance, others have negligable talent, but there must be 'some' talent in the first place.

I suppose there is always exceptions to the rule - clever d*ck!!

I'm sorry if I quoted you out of context A.B. but what I was driving at was that you cannot say that our midfield is better than Man UTD's as 3 of the Man UTD midfield has been around for years and for 2 years (1999, 2000) it was the best midfield in the world.

Its true that Scum's midfield is not as good as it once was, particularly when Kleberson and Djemba Djemba play, but given that our three midfielders have barely been at the club a month, we cannot accurately say how good they are.

They could be very, very good, or it could be a disaster.

As for my other comments AB, I'm sorry if I appeared to be directing them at you personally: I was more saying it to those fans who get carried away with new signings (as happened with Diouff, Diao, Cheyrou and Cisse) rather than at you personally.

You say the past is the past, but people have to heed the past as history teaches you lessons about the present and the future. We have to learn from our mistakes by looking what went on in the last 15 years and seeing how we can do things differently.

I'm excited about Benitez and what he has achieved before in Spain, but only the deluded would put their house on him being a 100% success.

Time will tell, the omens look ok, but there's a hell of a lot of hard work and some degree of pain required if we are to go the places we want to.

Bloody Hell AB you a lawyer  ???

Alonso comes with a reputation but the other two although Im sure are good players dont to be honest

I am confident RB will turn them into a solid unit but lets not just blindly follow and it si some peoples right to reserve judgement we follow the same team but excuse me if I dont go over the top especially after the great show so far

Remember as well that it was Morientes we were after and most people saw Nunes as a consolation

Garcia was not one of the main people at Barcelona in fact Davids and Ronaldhino rescued their season

I think there will be harder times ahead before our midfield starts to gel

I remember him Judge. You make a very good point.

I think his "agent" contacted Southampton with forged letters and papers saying that the player was a cousin of George Weah and there may have been something where someone pretended to be George Weah on the phone to Souness who recommended the player.

Apparently the guy did ok in his only training session but the minute he was put on the field it was immediately obvious that he was an imposter.

Good one Judge.

Something very similar, happened at a large premiership club a few years back, however because he had a younger brother who was a little bit simple, and could kick a ball, they let the older brother play (who was also retarded) play a few hundred games for them, anyway FIFA are still investigating Gary nevilles playing credentials !!         :D

Yes I remember it well. Someone did do the old prank call as George Weah, telling of his nephews "inherited skill" and how Mr Weah himself had "nurtured the boy from a young age in the ways of football". I have read the full story in a book, cant remember which one.

The lad was brought on as a substitute and then subbed  after five minutes.

I was never expecting much from the French players that Houllier bought. Frech don't have good young talent, and there isn't as many successfull French footballers in the Premiership [Viera,Henry,Anelka and one or two others which is not a lot considering how many French players play in the Premiership] on the other side Spain has more young talent. Look at Reyes and Fabregas, both young players. Fabregas has been impressive, he has adopted to the Premiership very quickly and this is why I believe that the 3 Muskateers will do us good this season.

I think the La Liga and the Premiership are very simular so it will take a bit time for the players to settle with the rest of the squad, settling into the Premiership shouldn't be all that big of a deal.

Thats one of the reasons why I believe Alonso,Garcia and Nunez will be good this season, I've always thought that Spain has better young talent than France.

It absolutely baffles me how it could have happened.

I mean, if I were chairman of Southampton someone's head would have to roll after that happened as it was a serious error in judgement.

How could they not have copped it?

Crazy.  :D

Apparently his fitness was ok and his touch was middling, but the minute he stepped onto the pitch and started running around like an idiot (bit like Robbie Savage eh?) it became obvious that the guy hadn't a clue how the offside rule worked leaving a red faced Souness having to pull him ashore ASAP.

Maybe it was the Hustler....... :D

Does anyone remember the con artist about 92-93 who lived in a top hotel in Liverpool pretending to b an Everton player got himself some club stationery and charged stuff to the club

Not the same as getting on to a pitch in a premiership game but if youve got the nerve you can do anything

One of the funniest football con stories was when the Everton fan got arrested in Liverpool back in the early 1980s.

I'm not 100% certain of the story but this is how it goes.

An Everton fan was arrested for being drunk and doing something bizarre like having gay sex in a public place. I'm not sure, but "gay sex" definitely was involved.  :D

Anyway, when the guy was arrested the bobby asked him his name and occupation. The Everton fan said "Mark Lawernson, footballer". Allegedly the cop knew absolutely nothing about football or who Lawerson was and then put it down on the custody record.

It got leaked to the press and for a brief time, a lot of people actually thought that the real Mark Lawerson had been arrested for having gay sex in public.

Had nothing to do with his moustache or haircut....... :D

I'm sure other people have different stories, but that's what I heard. Its probably an urban legend.

Or is it?  :Oo:
