Spain missed Silva big time imo...

why hasnt he been playing much in this tourno? when I have seen him come on he has made little impact.

Got to agree with Sabre, people say Johnson can't defend but Ramos offered very litte tonight defending and attacking, eventually resorting to crosses from very deep and he really should have scored as well

Spain needs a new RB. Ramos is a problem.

I've been a Spain fan long before the 06 World Cup, and I always what it would feel like to have my favorite team and my home team play eachother.

And the result is shock, how the :censored: did a average US side beat Spain?  Didn't get to see the game, had to paint my girlfriends house, but I heard  Howard saved the day a couple of times.

Sad that Spain lost, but happy it was to the USA rather then Brazil, Italy, Portugal, or France.  Can't stand those 4 teams.

Think Altidore might be able to get a game at Villareal now?

It would be nice to see US win it, but I think that Brazil will destroy them.

Have I mentioned that Onyewu and I were both born in the same city and grew up in the same town?

(was probably too embarrassed to mention it before :D  )

It's football and that can happen just as we went once to Goodison and they made two counters.

Spain's football is beautiful, but beautifulness doesn't bring you results alone. If you have a day in which the controls are not good, your decissions are a second late, and you have an opposition that does a serious game of football and defends well, this can happen. And the Spanish press, like myself yesterday think that this "humble treatment", which is how we call "humble pie", will be good for us.

Congratulations.

Last time we gave you an island, we gave you a peaceful island where cigars were done, and the sun was nice. You took it and in a few years they made a revolution.

You don't know how to handle an island properly!  :D

Thought the USA were excellent.

I don't know their whole record on this run they've been on, but the commentator mentioned they'd only conceded three goals in that time, so I imagine they've had scant experience of actually falling behind and having to chase a game. They were bound to lose at some point of course and this result will probably do them good in the long run as it is has been evident in this compitetion that they have been guilty of over-confidence, bordering on arrogance. They had an easy group, but there were times against South Africa in particular that they were looking laboured. They need to find other options going forward when chasing the game if they want to win the World Cup. Other ways of breaking teams down rather than relying on their sheer quality in the final third to hope the breakthrough will come if they keep on plugging away.

hey, we played with two strikers for most of the game. Yes we did absorb, and were on the back foot a lot at the end, but we were pushing the game early

TBH I am not bothered about Spain being knocked out if it means the LFC players can come back and get a break before pre-season.
They dont have to play a stupid 3/4th place play off do they.

8 players all the time behind the ball with two lines of four men like a wall (and what a wall). Absolute brilliant defending and counter attack game.
Phisical game, the USA coach beat Del Bosque.
BTW, I hate that feckin everotonian of Howard, he´s good.
