Here's the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium.

It's unbelieveably impressive; we could only dream to have a stadium like this.
It seats 80,000.

retractable roof
air conditioned
loads of boxes and stuff

get this

a 60 yard long videotron

$1Billion price tag

In Here

I would like to see how their business plan and revenues differ from our own.

This was the opportunity and expertise we prayed we were going to get when G&H bought us so how can they do it for one club and not another.

Build us the same stadioum just leave out the aircon. Job done !!

When they make more money in sales then the combined forum will ever make?  That might be one reason  :D

There is insane money in American Football.

One fella signed for the Redskins last month.

His 6 year contract is for $101M, with $41M upfront in cash.

Knock it all you like but the NFL is big, big business in North America and the Cowboys' new digs are a testament to that. I've been to a couple of games in the past and they're definitely something worth experiencing--particularly the pre-game tailgate parties.    :nod

it also has three different fields that it can roll out for the type of sport it is hosting that day: NFL, college American football, or association football.  I think the stadium is trying to host a World Cup match in 2022.

they sure do love their videotrons in texas

i really hope america never gets the world cup again. great stadiums but the people don't love football.

the best thing about american football is tailgaiting before a match. when i was invited I was a bit worried that dodgy men in trenchcoats would be around  :D  but it is beers/burgers etc.

more Americans have applied for World Cup tickets than any other country for South Africa 2010.  We have ex-pats and immigrants from every country that would be in the World Cup.  The dollar is more economically friendly than the Euro or the pound right now. We have tons of huge stadiums, and we can play in almost any kind of condition, high altitude, low altitude, warm weather, cool weather, rainy, dry, etc.

And when I was in college, I would normally just go the the tailgate and drink/eat till halftime, then wander over the the bar and watch the 2nd half there. :D

still though - the people that are 100% american have no interest in football except for a few soccer moms driving their children to a match. It would be like having the superbowl in London so the americans there could watch it but the average briton would have little interest.

I'd prefer a football mad country (preferably outside of europe or south america) to host 2018 and 2022.

what exactly were the Swiss and Austrians bringing to the Euros other than their tiny stadiums?

not sure what 100% American means, sadly, most of the "100% Americans" were killed off.

Actually a lot of Americans care a lot about the world cup, its about the only time we pay attention to football. A lot like the olympics. Americans couldn't care less about athletics, swimming, gymnastics or figure skating for 3 years and 11months, but we care a lot during the olympics.

Soccer is also the only team sport in America where the general fan view is country before club. I saw a poll where it was 90:10 fans wanted the US to win the world cup than their team the league.

People make good points in this thread

If people think NFL teams don't make mad money, they should look into it because teams like the Cowboys have way too much value attached to them
"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." Bill Shankly

joe, being american you obviously know better than me but I thought the average (non mexican) american follows basketball, baseball and american football. soccer is too far down their list to warrant them getting the world cup.

look how excited south africa is at getting it, how excitsed would english people be if they got it? I don't think americans wiill be jumping for joy at the idea of SOCCER coming.
