Stu, you have a very complicated thinking ability because you did not understand that. Anybody can score, but not everybody can have top notch defending. Offence scores, yes that lets you get into the game but the defence wins the games. If you do not understand that, then think about it. The defence is in the way of the other side from scoring, if the defence is tight then your opponent will not score and if your opponent does not score you win the game.

Let me give you an example since you have a problem of understanding that concept. Arsenal vs. Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough have talented strikers, Hasselbaink and Mark Viduka, who are capable of scoring as many goals as you can possibly think of, HOWEVER if their defence is poor like it is their opponent can easily get back in the game.

Arsenal were losing 3-1, correct? Their goalkeeper is far worse than Dudek, however they were able to get back into the game because they had talented players and Middlesbrough had a terrible defence. When you have a bunch of lousy defenders, a striker such as Henry can easily go through them and score, or get his team-mates to score which he did. If Middlesbrough defence was solid, Arsenal wouldn't had scored the last 3 goals in less than half and hour.

Like I have already said, Real Madrid have world class strikers. Morientes,Ronaldo,Owen, and others. They are capable of scoring, however their defence is not as good as it should be which allows their opponents to get back into the game. Their performance over the past three seasons in La Liga is the proof of that.

How stupid are you?

THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!

I'll say that again so you can understand.

THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!

and again...

THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!

and another 5 times...
THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!
THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!! THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!! THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!! THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!

If we could all score goals as much as we could do everything else games would finish 60 odd all. Hence the reason STRIKERS cost more money than defenders. GOALS win you games.

Not defending. The best defence ever who conceed no goals doesn't win you anything if you can't score.

Where as if you're better at scoring goals than the opposition, chances are you'll win. :) Simple as that.

THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN FOOTBALL IS SCORE A GOAL!!!

Stu, I thought you were bit more inteligent than that.

Go out and play the game bitch and see how it is. Talking about I don't know football, you couldn't tell the difference between your elbow and your hand if you tried.

If you have no defence, then you will lose the game, its simple as that. All strikers can score, not every defender can defend because it takes talented players to make a defence solid.

Look at Middlesbrough. Their strikers can all score, even a baby knows that but their defence is horrible, thats why they let in 5 goals againts Arsenal.

How times will I have to use Real Madrid as an example for you to understand the concept? All their strikers can score because they are talented, world class players and have a good midfield, HOWEVER their defence is poor as your logic. Thats why they were eliminated from the Champions League last year, their defence wasn't solid and they allowed the goals.

You can score 3 goals but if your defence is horrible, then even a third rate team can get back into the game and win it. Even with descent strikers you can win a game as long as your defence is solid, if your opponent can't score what the hell is he going to do? While the midfield and the strikers have the time to sneak a goal in because their opponent's defence is shitty.

Stop tripping retard.

You talk endless ******. Absoloutely endless ******.

The hardest thing to do in football is score a goal, any knowledgable person will tell you that. END OF STORY. END OF ARGUEMENT.

If you don't score you can't win. Scoring goals is harder than passing, tackling, shooting, positioning, running, dribbling, etc etc etc.

I've played the game at high standard, i've coached kids at sunday league level.

If you have no defence, then you will lose the game, its simple as that. All strikers can score, not every defender can defend because it takes talented players to make a defence solid.

All strikers can't score tho lad. The greatest strikers in the world only score at best in about 30% of the games they play.

A.B. your example of Madrid is invalid because when they lose games, its usually by the odd goal. They lose 1-0, 2-1, its very rare they lose by a high score and score alot of goals themselves and if i remember rightly Manchester United won a league title with a defence consisting of Blanc, Silvestre and the Nevilles.

Lad stop talking ****** and i'll say it again, the hardest thing to do in football is score a goal.

This is the last thing that I will say in this topic, Stu hopefuly you will be able to understand since you have a hard time of doing so.

Chelsea is a good example from EPL.

Why have they only allowed one goal in four games? If you have any inteligence at all the first thing that should come to mind is "defence".

Chelsea have a very solid defencive players, thus they have only allowed one goal passed them.

Their opponents before Southampton could not breakthrough their defence, meaning that they couldn't score.

Chelsea's defence won the game and here is why so read this carefuly, simpleton.

Because Chelseas's opponents didn't have the ability to score, this gave Chelsea an oppurtunity to win the game. Their defence is one of the reasons why they win their games. They have talented strikers who can score but scoring won't always win you the game because any squad can back into the game easily if the defence is weak but that is not the case with Chelsea. Their defence was solid, not letting a goal which gave time to the midfield and their strikers to work together and score. One goal was good enough for them because they knew that their opponents could not get back into the game due to their defence.

Defence wins the games just as much as the offence does. That is the concept that you fail to understand because you are thick headed and not open minded. You state that everyone is an idiot because they don't agree with you, you can't expect everyone to agree with you, not everyone will jump on the bandwagon and kiss up to you.

Enough has been said, if you fail to understand that than that is not my problem.

Defence is just as important as offence, that is the point that I made but Stu misunderstood it.

We all have different perspectives on the game, I don't expect everyone to agree with me and Stu shouldn't expect everybody to agree with him. I'll leave it at that.

Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.

Personally, i love teams that are solid at the back and dont give anything away. I like tight defences more than teams that rip sides to shreds... HOWEVER!!! scoring more goals than the opposition is the hardest thing to do in football. You use Chelsea as your example... well i'll use the same game... Southampton have decent players in forward areas, Phillips, Beattie, Svensson, Fernandes, Prutton.... all players with ability. They didn't score... why? Because the hardest thing to do in football is score a goal. As i said.

I didn't play at high level? Well ok c0ck if ya want me to prove it, name a time and a place. :) No fightin, no nancy ******, a simple game of football just to prove a point. :)

I don't attend all the matches any more, this shows you don't pay attention. I've said this numorous times. If you're gonna start an arguement ya little nerd at least have the decency to get ya facts and arguements correct as apose to making them up and talking junk.

You're an idiot. Southampton did score, you dumb******. Two reasons why Chelsea won
1.James Bettie was a clumsy fool, own goal
2.Penalty for Chelsea

If those two things did not happen, Southampton would had won. Chelsea couldn't score.

Its impossible to win a game 0-0. Its not impossible to win 2-1.

You're the idiot. End of arguement. Stick to basketball.
