It didn't reinvent the genre, but it did raise the bar so high that it took something special to beat it. In terms of gameplay and replayability, it was second to none. I must have spent at least two years playing that game, something I'd never do with any game today.

No arguments from me, the best game by far, especially the multi-player. We use to play it 2 v 2 in the front room with 2 TVs, a splitter and covers over half of the screen so you couldn't see the other team's screen plus you had to have the scanners off......and a big block of dope!

They were the days, we use to play that game for 7-8 hours at a time, absolutely quality entertainment  :bowdown

Goldeneye was awesome. I unlocked everything on that game, the worst was the running through the Archive level. That took me bloody ages to do !

Gotta say, Ocarina of time was the best of the bunch in my humble opinion...

right now im fecking about with we love golf on the wii tho

Ocarina of Time was brilliant. It was put back time and again but in the end was worth the wait. I also liked the second one, Majoras Mask. Hardly mentioned when you mention the N64 but I thought it went with a novel idea and worked.

ZX speccy ruled its day, I completely agree regards the difference in games. Today even TV ADS focus more on the special effects, visual tricks etc, but they are just so cr ap. So much more thought went into the ads in the old days, catchy tunes, comedy, all kinds of things that technology has made almost an afterthought.

Some speccy games are still playable today, although some simply can't compete with advances in graphics etc - especially football simulations and management. You can get a speccy emulator for your PC, I tried playing some old footy management games and they are sooooooooooooooo slow.

Talking of footy management games, I had a fantastic couple of seasons the other day. I was aiming to manage a Championship side, get them promoted and maybe win a cup, and then try and win the Premiership once promoted. I exceeded my own expectations by nearly as much as you possibly could. I took charge of Wolves to give me a decent budget and every chance of competing in the cups and Premiership once promoted. The other key reason is that the wage budgets don't often change much, so while transfer fees might not prove a problem, player wage demands could be a problem - in the Championship and Premiership. Even when promoted I could afford Torres' transfer fee, but not his wages.

1st Season (Championship)

I sold off most of the squad for about £20m, brought in a few bargains like Hangeland, Klasnic, Modric and a few others who were available for less than £2m. The season started great, we won something like the first 15-30 games in a row and went 25+ games in the league before drawing the one game we didn't win. I think the only other draw was in the FA Cup at home to a Premiership side like Bolton, won the replay. The Championship was and never really is a problem to win, going unbeaten for the first time as any team, but it is the cups that normally I find it hard to win with a Championship side. But this season we played the mancs, Chelsea and other Premiership sides and won, I can only assume because of the winning start and players developing. Whenever I try playing the Premiership as a relegation fodder team, losing or drawing early often ends up with my side topping the table early on, but fading into 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

So we won the Championship, dropping only two points and won BOTH domestic cups without losing in any of the 61 games played. I think we even beat Arsenal in the League Cup semi by scoring 10 goals in the two legs, the side really was on fire and the kids I had brought were developing quite quickly to make the side good enough to beat all-comers.

2nd Season (Premiership)

I bought in quite a few new faces, sticking with the bulk of my treble winning side. We started off by winning the Charity Shield, started ok in the league and in the UEFA Cup. It wasn't quite as memorable a second season, I think we lost five games out of 69, but won the Premiership, UEFA Cup and FA Cup. The only cup we didn't win was the Carling Cup which we lost on penalties in the final. So close to a complete clean sweep, I gave up after that since I couldn't go for the manc clean sweep - I wasn't in the Champions League so needed another season before I could go for the complete set in one season (Champions League, Premiership, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Charity Shield and Club World Championship)
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Majora's Mask was actually a better game. It was darker and more clever.

Accepted your request dude, Feneney I'll send you one dude, I've mainly been playing Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 lately, I only buy exclusives for the PS3 cos I have COD 4 and World at War for my 360, I'm pretty happy with the PS games I've got, at the moment I have:

Resistance 2
Killzone 2
SOCOM
Motorstorm 2
Little Big Planet
Gran Turismo
and other downloaded games from PSN store like Pain, Flower and Rag Doll Kung FU

Not bad considering I've only had it like 7 weeks  :buttrock

Think I'm in the wrong job. Been playing Football Manager 2009 since Xmas, now in my 7th season as Liverpools manager.

Trophy Haul so far

Premiership winners 5
Champions league winners 6
FA Cup winners 6
League Cup winners 4
World Club Cup winners 5

best signing possibly Magnus Holter from Rosenborg for £2 million. A center back scores half a dozen goals every season (from corners , stick him on challenge keeper) . Now at 23 he's valued at £18 million.

:)

I finished Gears of War 2 last night. What a game!! The cinematics were some of the best I've seen in a game. It really felt like an interactive movie.
