nobody is saying a "nobhead" would win. they are all professional f1 drivers so all skilled. However, take the guy in the best car and the guy in the worst and swap them around and the "bad" driver would beat the "good" one.

It would be good if the drivers were separate to the teams and rotated cars so over the course of a season every driver got to drive every car, then you could have a true constructors title and a true driver champion.

It would mean separating the driver from the engineers of the team , but would be much better.

I disagree, F1 is a great sport, it's not just about who has the most money but who has the best 'team', i.e which team develops the car the best, chooses the best setup, has the best tactics, etc.  Their are so many factors to winning races, it's like football, look at Athletico, they had Torres for years and never challenged for the league but put Torres in a decent team and people now recognise him as one of the best strikers in the world and he is challenging.

I dont think people give Hamilton the credit he deserves, look at heikki kovalainen cos he has the same car last season but was no where near Hamilton, Raikkonen or Massa, their is more skill involved than people give drivers credit for, you have to have big balls to drive down a straight at 210 mph, out brake some one and duck inside at a bend.  Put it this way I wouldn't like to crash like some of those guys!!

F1 is more of a sport than the likes of cricket and darts :p

Big Niall wrote:Louis Hamilton started in the best car and nearly won the tournament in his first year, and won it in his second even though he's very little experience. with a lap or two to go the commentator said the title depended on whether it rained or not - pathetic sport. the british commentator even said that alonso had been the best driver all year.

then a few technical changes to the cars and now Hamilton apparantly stands no chance and Jenson button is now a contender for the title, even though he has been nowhere for last number of years. I'm not insulting either driver, just the ridiculous "so called" sport.

Morons will spend hours watching these cars go round and round for hours. Can we get this :censored: off our t.v? (no jokes about changing channels)

fecking brilliant mate  :D  don't be shy tell people what you really think! i couldn't have put it better myself- i'd rather nail my b@lls to the floor than watch f1. best topic starter for a while, thanks mate i haven't stopped laughing yet!

please keep it going this forum really needs a good laugh at the moment, too many doom & gloom merchants.

I think racing should have a decathalon. Get all the best drivers/riders in the world and have them compete in NASCAR, F1, indy car, MotoGP, drag racing, motocross, etc.

Drag racing?  ???  Is there a skill to that? I thought that was all about the car.

class race yesterday, the Brits did well. F1s great, nothing like eating a Sunday roast with the F1 on in the afternoon, good times
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

reaction time is a huge factor in close races, and its pretty hard to control a car going so fast.  John Force is awseome

This is what fecks F1 one up, the constant squabbling and bickering between teams and the authorities; it's worse than a school playground. :no
