Your game data is saved on your memory drive, so I don't think that will be a problem for you, the only problem is how you are going to get another xbox console

My old xbox did the samething, unfortunately. I bought a new one though

Make sure you don't send the hard drive back, or send it back in the original box(if you want to keep them).

They said they are going to update my warrantee in the next 48 hours.

And i might be without an xbox for upto 3 weeks

Download fallout 3 on your comp...... its a better game and there are loads of cheats for it on the computer. Get as much ammo as you want mate

You can always give yourself the Ring of Death, and then microsoft would give you a new one. Not sure when that ended though.

E74, sounds like the one that has to do with the AV cable. Would a different wire work? There are ways of fixing it yourself too, but its not easy.

John i spoke to them and they said it's a full on hardware
shut down mate.

Whn it happened there were 3 rings then it went to 1 i don't know what the hell happened but i'm right pi.ssed off :veryangry

Mh i went to Demonoid and there's loads mate, i found Farcry 2, looks like a good game might give that a try.

The day FIFA 09 was released my laser thing stopped reading discs and I couldnt play, microsoft wanted $200 but I found a local place that did it for $60. Only lost it for a week too, would of taken 4-6 weeks with microsoft. Their support is really lacking on this system.

Microsoft really need to sort these problems out.

We pay them loads to get online but they can't even build a proper console feckers.

Sorry mate, I can't help. I use newsgroups (binaries) for downloading stuff. I would send you a copy of Fallout 3 but its a 5.5gb file and I have no idea how to get that size on a disk.

Anyone any ideas? I don't think DVD SHRINK or anything like that would work.

I have Far cry 2 which is only 3.5 gb so I could send you that?

By now I'm almost an expert of the problems the 360 has. I've fixed mine well over a dozen times, and fixed a few others. In short, they are just a shambles of design and should never have left the factories in the state. Every single 360 is a ticking time bomb and here's why: the design of the console inside; shoddy mobo's; and seriously inadequate passive cooling. MS need to realize that passive cooling inside the 360 on the GPU with a standard aluminium sink, which is located DIRECTLY under a DVD bay with barely a few mm's of space is inevitably going to lead to overheating, which is the 360's bane.

However, in saying that, even if you installed a water cooler or a copper sink with a fan on it, there are other problems that the 360 is prone to failure with. The E74 error you mentioned is not really just to do with the AV lead. It's a scaler chip problem located just above the GPU called the 'ANNA' chip. But what is really f*cked up is that these error codes are misleading, as I've fixed the E74 just by clamping the sinks and not touching the scaler. If you see E74, then it basically the beginning of the end for a 360, as even clamping it will only put it on life support for a few weeks, and then it will eventually fail in another area. I fixed one with this, and then it lead to an E73 error, and if you get that, you're f*cked. Amazingly, that has to do with the ethernet port, and for some crazy reason, MS failed to even produce and install those correctly. If they get a fault, it stop your whole machine from working. WTF!

Of course I'm speaking purely for those that have ran out of a warranty and having it repaired is a last resort if MS won't replace it. Even if you send the console back and they attempt to fix the thing, it will still break in time. There is no avoiding it unless the give you a new console. They are easily the worst built consoles ever, and probably one of the worst built pieces of technology to ever be sold in mass production. MS are seriously f*cking lucky that they have a fantastic online service backed up with second to none first and third party titles for the machine, otherwise it would have been dead and buried in it's first year. Whoever designed the thing should be sacked and MS should be sued big time. IMO, if you buy one of these things and it fails, it should be replaced instantly with a new console and you should be compensated with a game or controller or something.

mine crashed about 2 weeks ago i was on a cod world at war sesh and the fecker just froze and i got the 3 red rings
i was out of warranty so i went to game the next mornin and got a cheap package that was on offer it was a arcade with extra controller ,mirrors edge , and 2100 msp it cost me £117 i was made up and killing germans the same day! i waqs well p!ssed about my old 1 though!

I'm gonna go for a Vodafone mobile today with the free ps3 as backup i just need a console
for my half an hour relaxation time (Work cooling off period) each evening.

Can't believe what Emerald has said it's just a joke that Ms allowed these things to happen, I tried my hardrive on my son's Xbox 360
and it gave him the three red lights, if thats the case i have lost all my saved game data.

And i got Live gold membership on their aswell.
