As Barry has said, proper flu fecks you up.
I had it a few years ago - you will not get out of bed for 6 days.

Man Flu is just a cold - I was off with it 4 days last week.

Shes saying to you are you alright love, How are you feeling, do you want something to drink. But to your kids or her friends shes saying .Hes doing my head in .hes getting on me nerves all that pretend coughin an sneezing he dosnt know what being really sick is :nod

But just watch next time yous men are sick after a week or so watch what is needed for the house , or i could do with a break away from here im a bit tired . New coat , new something or other is needed.

I had a really bad flu about 2 years ago and the other half had "Man flu". I still had to go to work, do my house work and make the tea while he lay on the sette all day with a duvet over him, dying!!!
Men make a drama out off being ill. Its in their nature, :laugh:

'Man flu' should be renamed 'woman flu'
Man flu should perhaps be renamed woman flu after a survey suggested women are the biggest whingers about cold and flu bugs.

In a survey of 2,000 people, 85 per cent of women admitted exaggerating their symptoms to gain sympathy compared to just 76 per cent of men.

Up to a third of women also admitted to feeling "more emotional" when struck down with winter illness compared to just one in 10 men.

While women may complain more about flu however, ladies are better at boosting the body's defences and taking steps to avoid getting ill, according to the research.

The study by Actimel found a third of women are more likely to self-diagnose cold symptoms and try to cure themselves by eating healthy foods, compared to less than one in five of men.

Professor John Oxford, cold and flu expert at The Royal London Hospital, said: "The best way to prevent either 'man' or 'woman' flu is probably to sleep in a separate bedroom to a suffering partner.

"This close proximity is a sure way to spread the virus, much more so than a person just coughing or sneezing on a train - in this setting, holding an infected handrail is a more likely method of transmitting the virus."

Nutritionist Fiona Hunter said: "A good healthy diet is essential to help lower your chances of catching colds and 'flu.

"The evidence is increasing for consumption of food and nutrients such as zinc and vitamin C, and food like garlic and probiotic drinking yoghurts.

"These can help strengthen the body's defences and in turn make it easier to deal with viruses."

Gladeana McMahon, consultant psychotherapist the findings were surprising because men had a tendency to talk more about their illnesses.

She said: "Women tend to talk more about their feelings generally, but men it seems, appear to vocalise more when they're sick - that's where the myth around 'man' flu originated.

"So it's surprising that these results show women to be the biggest complainers when it comes to colds and flu."
