Still hacked off with the 10 player online game.. Sheep running after the ball, being offside and never passing it!!!

Can we set up a group or something to take on the world?

As I said earlier I'm not normally a fan of footie games but FIFA09 has BLOWN ME AWAY!

I have to agree 100% with everything Emerald says, its an absolute stonker of a game.

I played a match last night and my jaw was constantly dropping at the amazing moves and goals I was scoring.

Once a cross came in to me and my player volleyed it with his outstep from the edge of the box. The ball zipped against the bottom of the right hand side post, beyond the dive of the keeper before running across the length of the goal line and spinning out for a goal kick. It was absolutely amazing.

Another time I swung a corner in, a player got a header on the ball which sent it goalwards before another one of my players got another header on it, changing direction and into the net. It was so life like it was like watching Match of the Day and believe me it has come a long way from the likes of Actua Soccer 2 where practically every goal was identical.

Try fiddling with the 'Auto-switching' option under XBOX360 controller settings (or whatever its called). Ive had mine on manual now for a while and im getting far fewer 'surprise' cards off the ref. You are kind of in control of whom has/will receive the ball then*. It might be bollox who knows...worth a try anyhow.

*Trouble then is - selection cycling through half your team can interrupt spontenaiety somewhat...catch 22.

10 v 10 online Fifa is somewhat of a clamity at the moment it's brand new so nobody has a clue what to do
everybody just charges around like kids in a sweet shop.

It reminds me of the old Harry Enfield Arsenal clips in black and white :D it's completely bonkers.

The 5 v 5 was a bit like that on the old one but at least you had half a team playing in their correct positions. Problem with the 10 v 10 is you actually need to understand (to some degree) how to play football to be any good at the game otherwise it's 20 guys chasing the same ball all over the pitch!

i haven't picked it up yet, still deliberating over Pro-Evo. I bought both last time out but will only be getting one this time so it's a tough decision. i've been a pro-evo man for so many years now.

One of my fave sketches of all time. Remember Charles 'Charly' Charles with his one move!! What a Lege!

Anyone been watching the new Harry Enfield show? Cracking sketch having a pop at you northerners this week with the 'Northerner' show done in the manner of Crufts! Was hilarious! :D

Yeah, or vice versa. There are still some great games based on films, though, most notably those based on the Aliens and Star Wars franchise. I'm sure there are others that I just can't think of. This new Bond game does look like a quality product, though. It might fall just a little short from being a must buy, but it's certainly not looking like the typical flop. For me, it's all down to level design in games based on Bond. GE was a masterstroke of level design. There still hasn't been an FPS to this day that has bettered some of the most popular levels in that game, especially it's second level, Facility.

The new Alien's game Colonial Marines is one that I'm waiting on for the 360. The screenshots look amazing and it looks as if they've just based the levels directly off the second film which is what I've always wanted in a FPS. I just hope Gearbox spent more attention to it than what they did to BIA:HH.

Chelsea are just the ultimate b@stards that I've played so far. I can't get in behind them and it's taken me about 8 attempts to even score against them. I missed 3 pens against them and they always knick a scrappy 1-nil. Wouldn't be like them, would it? So, a quick tampering with the tactics and formations and I reverted to flooding the middle of the pitch and keeping Nando up front on his own. It worked, but only after about three cracks at them with the 4-5-1 set up with Kuyt out wide right and either Riera or Babel in an advanced wide position acting as a support striker. I just beat them 2-0 for the first time. :D

I've noticed it seems to be Gerrard and Torres that have massive impacts by either scoring or setting up goals in all the games I've played. Exactly how we are, really. Very realistic. Can't get enough of this game, absolutely awesome. It'll go underrated, though, because it's Fifa and an EA title. They don't normally do awesome, but by f'ck, they've done it with this title.

ur havin a laugh right? bought FIFA last week (decent game by the way) and started manager mode on proffesional level and won the league and cup double undefeated, it was so easy it was untrue, moved up to world class mode for the new season, trying to complete one more season before PES comes out on friday.

Also whats up with the pathetic advantage rule on FIFA? the icon comes up for advantage, you carry on playing then the ref blows the whistle 10 seconds later, its terrible, and always seems to happen when ur steaming through on goal.

So according to you, the game is so easy it's untrue? I'd say you got the untrue part right. The game is anything but easy. I'm no stranger to football games, and I'm finding it difficult to score against mid-table teams never mind the big teams. I'm sure there are plenty here in this thread that would agree with me, and disagree with you. It's a proper sim, contrary to what many deluded PES fanboys out there believe, or want to believe.

Not sure about manager mode. Haven't touched that yet. And the advantage rule is a bit on the mad side, but a patch is already on the way to fix some of the "minor" games this game has.
