Hope they don't mess up the Matthew St Festival like they did last year... it's a boozing highlight of my year.

Why Liverpool wasn't a capital of culture beforehand, I'll never know.

:bump

I've just been browsing the net and come accross stuff like this, I know many Cities have their slums but where has the 'regeneration' gone to ?

Is it to build large water front apartments around the docks, is that where the investment is going ? What about the communities though, why are there sooo many empty houses in Liverpool. In parts it does look a ghost town. Where are all the people ?

London has its dives, but in parts Liverpool looks really run down, can somebody explain why as for no other reason I'm genuinley interested.

:)

The Capital of Culture thing has done wonders for the city.

The property prices have gone through the roof, and I have made a fortune on the ones I have got without doing anything.

Also the city itself is superb, the high rises and apartments look spot on in town and that L1 centre is wonderful shopping area.

On the vidoe, some of the places are empty for a reason. Some parts show the M62 gateway at Edge Lane, which is being flattened for access roads from the M62. Some parts show Bootle near Hawthorne Road, which will be flatened, and does not show the brand new estate built to rehouse the occupants there. Also it shows some pictures of the anfield area - which are owned by LFC and are being left empty ready for regeneration with a new ground. There is also pictures of a place I lived as a child, which has been flattened a while ago and replaced with green space for the kids on the council estate.

Some ares are grim, but you could defo get 9 minutes of stills of empty houses from London, Manchester and all otehr major cities.

ITs clearly someone who has the hump with the Capital of Culture stuff who has made the video.

Liverpool1 present day.

Bam, Liverpool like most cities in the UK will have areas that are rundown, its also very easy with a bunch of pictures to give a bad impression of a place.

Were i live alot of the terraced streets like the ones in those pictures are being knocked down and whole ares regenerated to give people more space.

Liverpool is a great city but has its problems just like anywhere else, it certainly isnt all doom and gloom so dont let it stop you visiting us one day.
