How long.... - You planning on sticking around?

I only came on here to find a new stream as my old one had just been closed down. I couldn't find a stream on here, but while I was looking round the threads I read a couple of BigMicks posts that I thought expressed my own views better than I ever could (I think we were both a lot more positive a couple of years ago)so I stopped searching for a stream and started reading posts.  Took me a while to pluck up courage to post as I had never been on a forum before, but when I finally did post I had a very early introduction to Lando in my first thread and almost decided to cut my losses.

Since then I suppose I have probably left about 4 or 5 times for various reasons, only to miss the chat and the people and return for more punishment. I log on most days and flit in and out while I am working, watching tv or playing about on my comp. It also gives me something to do late at night when I am on taxi duty for my kids.

I have made a lot of mistakes and a few friends since I first came on here, I apologise for my mistakes and treasure the mates I have made. Hopefully we will all be here for a good while yet.

Im mainly a lurker who use to enjoy the in depth discussion and the first hand viewpoint of local supporters. In last couple of years though the place has developed more into a battle of egos and the type of posters I liked to read have disappeared or dont bother . Like most large MBs regardless of topics its become a hotbed of arguments with polarized views from both ends of the spectrum of negative and positive.

Im actually avoiding the footy discussion threads as its just annoys me and you really shouldnt be visiting a forum  to be annoyed. Thats what the news  and Australina tax office  sites are for.

So im just hiding out in General discussion and while there are fit birds in the world, i will be here

I can't stay away from this place, even when the bollox all gets a little too much.  To be honest, I buzz on the fact that it's so international and diverse, with people from all over the world and all walks of life talking absolute nonsense to one another for hours on end every day.  Kinell, where else can you converse with a fella in New Zealand who sells dildos for a living! :D

I can probably say that this forum has changed my life. Not in any major way that people who know me could notice, but without this forum, I don't know if I would have been able to follow the club and kept interest.  My brother who I have turned into a casual LFC fan rips on me by saying that I care more about Liverpool than I do about the Redskins and Terps combined. Not sure if he is right or not, but I certainly spend hours and hours more reading about Liverpool, I think that is because I am mostly trying to learn.

Supporting the club does become discouraging at times however. Sometimes I think about what the other fans would think of me if I ever went to a game. Most would probably be :censored: that I took a ticket from some local chap trying to go with his dad or something, and call me an OOTER and to get out and take H&G with me.  Certainly at first it took some time getting used to. Well at the very begining it was ALL learning and very strange because I was learning about the sport at the same time learning about the club's history while following the summer signings of Kuyt and Bellamy and the pre-season matches (I think Lindfield and Paul Anderson scored the first live goals I have ever watched).

But as time has gone by, and I have been able to watch almost every 1st team and reserve match the last 2 years or so, I certainly have felt my connection to the club  grow. I pretty much can't breath and can feel my heart beat throughout my body for the last 10 minutes of every game.

And a lot of this is in thanks to the welcome and knowledge I have received from this forum.  I really want to help to make it the best it can be, and although I have never met anybody from the forum, once I save up enough cash and do my trip around the world you can bet I will be crashing at your places :D .

Also, this might be a newkit first by I left a test voicemail at the drop.io where I have been putting the stats. It should convert to an mp3 format that you can either stream or download and anybody can do this I believe, just need to figure out a way around international calling fees, my friends who stayed in London said they used to use skipe.    link   Note: this is also the same place where I am updating my stat excel file

can't say i will be here for life but you never know i've been here 18 months but was on here reading for a long time before that

have to say i do have some funny conversations on here with a few of you, i love reading and seeing people react to something someone else has written ( for bad and good reasons )

some people when you can tell they are angry because of a bad result or just having a bad day say things and get it off there chest and it makes them feel better, in a form this site is a sort of Therapist to a lot of people who need some where to release there thoughts and anger and long may it continue

if it was not for this site i would get a hell of a lot more work done but what the hay who cares, i will be coming on for long to come and hope to be speaking with may of you till we will 40 league cups :D

well maybe not judge he is just a shirt lifter but it takes all sorts  :p  :p  :p

I will always come on here, especially when i am in work (like now) or if i've had a few bevvies and feel the need for a) a good moan b) to read other peoples views after a good result.
I have been a member for years but not racked up that many posts as i prefer to just have a good read.

There are some fans on here that if i notice they have posted in a thread i will always be interested, the likes of you mick and stu (Fo dne), i dont mind the anti rafa's like peewee voicing there opinions or the pro like Igor, lando and emerald defending him to the hilt.
It makes interesting reading and if i am honest helps me form more of an opinion.....while i have my own i know that others who are just as passionate can alter it (or should i say educate it  :D )

Obviously we could all do without the people who disagree slaggin each other off, but lets not forget these people are passionate about something they love so its bound to happen at times.

As i said i will always log on and have a read, even if i dont post that often.

This forum has changed a hell of a lot in the time I've been here, which is approaching five years now. When I first joined, as far as I'm aware the likes of Owzat, Stu, JBG, Greenred, Oldredeyes, Big Al were making the majority of the decent footballing posts. You then had the general chat gang who kept themselves to that part of the forum and generally had a laugh.

You'll find that this forum like any has it's peaks and troughs, largely depending on how the team is doing. It tends to peter off throughout the summer when there's little but transfer activity to talk about but once the season gets up and running again things start to pick up. Having said that, it's hardly surprising that the number of complaints in my inbox have gone up rapidly since the team has been underperforming at the start of the season. If we lose to United next match it will get even worse.

I have to say, having been a mod for a couple of years there are times when I look back and wonder whether I actually made the right decision. In my old job I used to literally be logged on 24/7 which was one of the reasons I was asked in the first place. Unfortunately since then, my new job means that I can't be on here anywhere near as often as I used to be. The same for Jonnymac I believe.

However I do love this place and will trundle on, despite the fact that you'll never be able to please everyone all of the time. I think part of this place's success over the years comes from the fact that we've tried to be a little more liberal when running the site, certainly compared to other Liverpool sites who have a zero-tolerance policy.

By the way, since I joined I still haven't found out the answer to one thing. WWBBTJ? :D

I found this forum when I bought a laptop to find what the internet was all about.
I was on google looking to see if i could get a cheap LFC top and stumbled on it by accident and started reading.Few days later I came back and registered and started posting!
I cant remember why but one of the first posts I made some bloke called Dawson give me a bit of abuse which nearly put me off...it was only something stupid but I was thinking whats the point in this?
Then some biatch called Ciggy started PMing me and gave me the third degree!
(It was sometime in 2005) LFC were doing well in the C/L.She interogated me to make sure i was'nt a "Glory hunter"!! :D
I cant remember how many names i've had since then or how many times i've been in Newkit Scrubs either....quite a few!
Its the best forum around IMO though cause I've looked on all the ones I can find!Yeah there are rows at times but that will happen anywhere and tbh heated discussions show that people care and have a passion for the team, better that than people not giving a fu'ck...The club would be nothing without supporters who care so much!

Anyway how long will i be sticking around?...Until i get banned again or finally reach my goal of getting Judge to admit he is gay! :)

I don't post much cos I can't be ar.sed, I'll just pop up every so often and make some retarded comment when I feel I need to say something, but I've been reading posts on here practically every day for the past 4 years and I cant keep away from the place for some reason

I tend to have a read of RAWK every day too but I spend more time here, it's great to hear some intelligent views on the club instead of the sh.ite most of my mates talk, can get all the latest news and gossip too

Can have a good laugh reading the general chat section and the countless ridiculous arguments that go on here always give me a good bit of entertainment, can't forget the many WUMs and rival fans too

So in answer to the question, I'll probably be here for the long haul, I've got no reason not to be, not that anyone would miss me if I left like
