I've reached me four year anniversary, and was just thinking that I don't plan on fecking off out of here anytime soon. Some of the posters have been here longer than me, and during my time I've seen Bazza wise up, Stu grow up and Wilhelmson feck up.

Some of the guys like Lynds, Saint etc etc I feel like I know though I've never met 'em. What will it be, will we all still be posting on here in ten years time, will we get bored of it, will the site end, will the Internet end, what do you reckon? Is is the same with all internet forums, do they all turn into a social club/soap opera like this one? Do people genuinely give a feck about some other posters on other forums like they've been proven to on this one? Will we be in our fifties on here, still talking the same old b0ll0cks?

i've left twice and come back and i've lost countless work hours - but its probably worth sticking around for another 40 years to see what happens when stu starts going senile.

If Owzat made stats about forums usage around the world, and newkit wouldn't be an exception, he'd probably discover that more than 80% of the members of a forum stop contributing for some reason at some point -- there are exceptions, I'm a member of a usenet forum that is running from 1993, and there's a core of english users that began there still writing . As a side note, none of them from Liverpool, but curiously aswell being all them from London, Maidenhead (I Think), Plymouth, etc, when I mentioned Liverpool or Liverpool F.C. they did never tell me a bad word about you. That's why I was a bit surprised to know in newkit the hatred of many rivals towards you, but that must be a football thing).

Anyway back to topic, it's natural to leave the forum at some point. The reasons are many, it might be that as the years advances, the "core" of users changes and you don't like it any more, it can be you just get bored of posting after the first years of enthusiasm, whatever. In my case I know it won't be because Alonso

, so far, I plan to stay, I like most users especially some occasional ones, and in the selfish side it helps to improve my english, which is nice.

I fall in and out of love with this forum all the time.

Sometimes on it all day enjoying the banter and at other times i log on read a few posts and couldnt be bothered looking at any other pages on here.

Lately the place has gone to the dogs a bit and there is some real moaning gits on here and to be honest they would just depress the life out of you. i suppose as long as im about I was always check in here but at times people need to stop takin the place so seriously!!

An interesting thought, really...who can say. The place has lost a little of its charm for me since voluntarily fading into the background to do my bit on the mod front, as opposed to boring everyone to tears with walls of text - occasionally making 'some' sense here and there, in my own defence of course!

Though I'd like to think in all sincerity there are a couple of posters (at least) who would be willing to share a pint, should circumstances dictate the opportunity some day.

Besides that, there is a definate shift in the dynamics of the ambience here - not always a positive vibe it has to be said. However, thats the nature of the human condition and like it or lump it...the world revolves around such whims.

You know its similar to a mad moment of irrationality i had the other day, completely out of the blue (and against the iron will of all previous abstentions) I decided to sign up to one of these networking sites, Facebook of all things. Now, im not one for spreading my resources too far outside the safety zone of my own families requirements and the associated upkeep of the hovel I've invested in, nor would i usually bother to make the effort anyway for the sake of a spot of idle nostalgic chit-chat with a few ex-school/work pals amounting to nothing more than turning back the clock for a few moments of indulgence. I've never been that much of a talker really, truth be told. I much prefer to think first and compose a structured response/thought in written form.

But such is the way of things it seems when you've scaled valiantly to the summit of youth, followed the rainbow's exhilarating/overwhelming spectrum full of experience designed to shape you into a 'man' - with hairs on your chest don't you know! Then having taken a misty-eyed glance back down the mountain to see how swiftly that journey actually came about, you are faced with the slow inevitable, intrepidating descent into middle age and all its conservative sobriety - and responsibility....and greyness.

I guess the concept im advocating here, is that no matter how staunch you protest. Never mind how broad shouldered you are equipped in dealing with the vagaries of life. Forget about existing as a hard faced de-sensitized lump. At some stage...before too long, you'll find yourself reaching out ever further toward the comfort of companionship in some form or another, however tangible. In my own personal vacuum - i never cease to find a ray of sunshine here, there or almost anywhere amongst the pages of this forum - at the very least a nugget of inspiration.

A very long winded (what else?) way of saying, as long as necessary i'd like to stick around and share the ride.

I have dialled back my involvement on this site in the last year (coincidently I have noticed a sharp increase in my productivity), but I don't plan on going anywhere.

Despite the soap opera on here sometimes (which I love tbh) I still read the site regularly. Luckily I know by now which posters I like reading and watch out for those posts.

So unless the internet changes (or I forget my password) I'll be here like a bad smell in a stuffy room.

Sifting through the sh!t on this forum is often tedious, but when you get to the good stuff it's often worthwhile.

I reckon with the new (relatively) mod's in place it's better equipped to keep a core of good quality posters about the place. That's a key point I think.

When I joined the forum I found sifting through the sh!t put me off, so many pages of sh!t. Also I found this internet community lark very strange, not understanding what avatars/sig's were and all the internet lingo/banter e.g. Real World thread the Dog and Gorilla, that in particular made me wonder the f*ck this place was. The number of threads/sections also made it difficult to know where to go/click. You click on the main page and there's numerous sections to choose from, I clicked lfc games - tumbleweed, I clicked lfc players lounge - tumbleweed, I clicked lfc kop - more tumbleweed, and so on. and when I clicked the general dicussion bit there were loads of threads and often multiple threads for just the one game (which is sorted now). Then you have all the usernames, trying to work out what they are/mean etc. In the end I decided to join for a few reasons:

1) I was just generally curious about the view of those on forums.

2) I wanted to wish anyone going to the Chelsea game at home in the UCL good luck because I couldn't make it

3) I found a Stu the red post that I just couldn't resist replying to

I then checked a few other places after people (Sabre especially) had mentioned them to me on here -e.g. RAWK. I found I was sifting through even more sh!t and just too many topics, and I thought I'd stick with the one forum.

If I was to criticise the place it would be because of the layout of the forum (too many redundant sections) and because it's a bit set in its ways. I think people should be a bit more aware/welcoming of those who haven't been on forums before, and accept that their views may be vastly different. If you haven't been on a forum before, this is a f*cking weird place to start I tell ya

I really have no idea how long I'll post on here, but it's essential that the base of quality posters is kept as it is, along with the characters who add to it even further. It's improved massively since when I joined over a year ago, there is less sh!t and threads are maintained better (not a criticism of older mod's, there are simply more of them now). I simply skim the sh!t now, probably gliding over a good 50% of posts in most threads. Legbarnes (because I think he won't venture into this thread) would be a good example of the type of poster I tend to glide over more often than not. A lack of capital letters/full stops, but especially text speak tends to put me in skim mode too

The truths bang smack in the middle.

I was made up when we got Benitez, but I've learnt a hell of a lot over the last 4 years about tactical player, player ability, patterns of play, the right and wrong thing to do and judging of players (somethin' I've always had a knack for).

I'll probably post on an off on here for years to come. I want to :censored:

I do remember the optimism Stu, I've had it myself a few times. I'm currently though pessimistic if I'm honest. I'm fairly sure that Rafa won't be able to change his ways enough to allow us a shot at the title, and once he goes the new manager is going to be left with ashedload of players he doesn't want, and even more worryingly a budget which is by then a mile behind Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City.

Anyhow the threads not about that, and like I said at first it's been interesting how much people have changed in four years. Younger people always change more obviously as they're still growing into their personality. Older f@rts like me are kinda stuck with theirs from now on.

The only good thing about sacking Rafa now is that it would change a lot the atmosphere of the forum. Suddenly all the PROS, the ANTIS, the rotationists, the non rotationist debates would be resetted and posters that discussed often would start finding common points. It would be interesting for newkit a new manager, but since the club is more important I don't want it to happen :P

Donno Mick...... there are days when it's interesting and funny on here and others when it just doesn't seem right. I find that I post more (relatively) when I'm on the road as it can get lonely after a while.... and it's always good to discuss with people who have a shared passion with one's self. Also the match day threads are a godsend when you're in regions of the world that don't have a live telecast of the matches. Forever indebted to posters who contribute there when I'm effectively "blind and deaf" due to location.

The slanging contests don't bother me that much anymore as I skim through most of that once it really kicks off.... I live in the Song Association thread anyway so many times that other stuff just goes over me head and I try to ignore it as best as I can. It's when the footy issues get discussed that I take notice anyway....

Not planning on going anywhere but I hope that the place evolves a little as we all get a little greyer round the edges.

The best thing about this forum, for a positive, are the attitudes and opinions. I read the LFC TV forum now and again and my god, that is very restricted. You say any kind of bad word on there and thats it. GAME OVER ! this forum you have those who agree and those who dont.

The main downside to this forum are the arguments. When an opinion is offered and not many people agree with your opinion, the insults fly. If we can grind out the insults and encourage more discussion then we will get a more healthy forum.

For instance, take the rafa must go argument. You have the "What? rafa has to stay" and the "Agreed, get rid", the conversation could go:

"why must he?"

"he rotates too much, his signings are poor and when we are getting chants of, "boring boring Liverpool" from Arsenal fans you know something is wrong !"

"but then again, those games are not as memorable as the classics, the champs league against milan, the FA CUP"

Then that can become a discussion, members trying to influence other members one way or the other, but for now its become:

"Rafa must go"

"Go support the bitters you tw@t !"

Stus post was a good one, he offered his reasons against rafa, disagree or not, it raised a discussion but even then you got the kind of responses I mentioned. More discussion less insults !

Well i feckin hate this forum at the minute ,because it all feels so negative ,every thread feels like a negative one . There's petty squabbles all over the place ,but i've found that it happens every now and then . It will get more positive again for sure once things start to settle down on a off the pitch .

I remember stu getting some awful stick for his defense of Houllier when he was in his final death throws of LFC management , but to his credit he stuck to his guns . I think it's the same with Rafa (not as bad i admit )and those of us who still beliieve he's the man , i just have alot of admiration for the fella and think he deserves as much loyalty from us as we can muster , he's had a tw@t of a year in charge ,with what's going on off the pitch and i still think he will produce the goods.

There are some top top posters on this forum ,and some of them have forgoten (imo) how good at discussing issues they are and are so stuck in a rut over stupid bickering ,that they have forgotten all there reasoning skills and knowing when to agree to disagree so as not to insult anyone .

I've spent abit more time over on RAWK in the past year , just beacuse they seem to have abit more of an in depth analysis of the owners issue , and i've laerned a hell of alot regarding the clubs off the field activities because of it . I always always log on to this site first just to feel a bit more comfortable and at home really . This site is alot more easy going and relaxed about things and i love the banter on here . When it's good this site it's really good , but sometimes like at this times lt just feels alittle bit like when you fart and you follow through if you know what i mean.

Anyway i'm sticking around , don't know for how long , probably aslong as we keep getting the quality of post that RED37 has posted.
