I read this too. He has a point about Fowler, but in part of the article he says about Ruddock. I think there's a big difference between camarderie and team spirit. I wouldn't say we did THAT well when we had all of these English players and supposed camaraderie under Evans. I'll take a manager who instills team spirit and belief over a team of friends.

I don't see the comment about Ruddock on that article Quimby.

As for comparing Arsenal to Liverpool. I wasn't. But then, Arsenal never had the sense of history that was passed from old to younger players like Liverpool.

i wasn't comparing. I just feel he is right stating that losing too many players like that contributes to the loss of spirit in the club. The pride of playing in a pool shirt, the pride of stepping out at Anfield to perform for the kop.

He was tryin' hard to put on a brave face whilst holding up a Charlton shirt yesterday but you could see he was still feeling gutted about leaving us whatever he says. It's not as if he asked for the transfer so to come out now with all this "team spirit , english manager" stuff is boll*cks.

Hi Murphy, this is my pasting shot for you

Yes, I felt he was right about Fowler too :)

So Englands poor performance is partly due to a swede, non-english. (half correct imo)
:p

If I were to put it in a crude way, we got the foriegn influx when the local lads do not make the cut.

We are not like Graz or other smaller european clubs that has 9 or more national players playing in the 1st team. These clubs could not afford foreign imports and hence are a few laps behind those in the european elite.

Its a club, and the management will do its best to get the best for the best of the club. Benitez comes in to form a team. And he is on the right path getting the best out of this liverpool team. I am glad.

I wish you better days with Alan... :D

OK maybe there is some value in saying team spirit has gone!
Is that a bad thing as we have a new manager builging a new team with new team spirit!
I cant see what point is trying to be made by saying the lack of english players will effect the unity of LFC though

Its probabaly a combination of all the points above. He prob felt that the club needed an English heartbeat, was gutted he was leaving realised what a step down it is and is also prob v.dissapointed as lets face it he was in every red fans team for the match on Saturday. At the end of the day Danny will always be a legend for his legendary Old Trafford antics and my missis still thinks he is mega cute (dont ask me I thought he looked like a scally) so Big up to Danny good luck but dont forget where you came from.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Must have been terrible team spirit in 85-86 season with no English players.

IT CANT BE THAT BAD A TEAM SPIRIT IF HE CAME OUT LAST WEEK IN THE ECHO SAYING HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO PROVING HIMSELF TO RAFA.
