Best fight scene - In a movie

I HATE wire fighting BS like the matrix , people flying through the air etc - what rubbish

Van Damme was just a ballet dancer pretending to be a fighter,

Bruce Lee was the real deal but had to amend his fighting for films, in real life he'd never throw head kicks as too risky.

Bourne films have great fighting in that it is dirty fighting, knee in rocks and headbut etc.nothing that flash.

So there - question answered :D

That tall skinny fella was one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Kareem Abdul Jabaar - (also flew the plane in one of the airplane flims)

I've seen that film a few times. Classic. Filmed here in Galway. My Parents were in that wee village a few years back. They say it's still the same.

Oh and that fight scene is the longest in any film ever made.

Some of those 1970s womens prisons films (apparantly Busty women more likely to be criminals) had great fight scenes. :eyebrow

Gotta be Rocky against Apollo Creed.

I watched Rocky the first time 78-79, people were on their feet at the cinema, it was a brilliant fight and a brilliant film.

I also loved the scene in the abattoir where Rocky smashes the rack of beef to a pulp.

Little known fact (well I didn't know!)..

Stallone based his Rocky character on a little-known New Jersey club boxer named Chuck Wepner. In March 1975, Wepner challenged heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali to a title fight in Cleveland, Ohio. He lasted almost the entire fifteen rounds and became one of the few challengers to knock Ali to the floor :O

Has to be Rocky 2 for me, the pumping music, relentless punishment ("you're goin down") and the legendry double knockdown finish. Who cares that if it was real life the ref would have stopped the fight after about 90 seconds!?
oh and of course its got this:

Fairly well known.

Also, don't think Chuck knocked Ali to floor (film vs reality conflict :D )

Chuck ended up with some mild (if it can be mild) brain damage though.

Apollo Creed was an excellent ali. To be honest, Carl Weather really did move like a boxer.

I thought Darth Maul against the two Jedi's in the Phantom Menace was a good lightsabre duel.

The House of Blue Leaves scene in Kill Bill vol 1.

Anything from The Matrix really....

Jet Li dismantling a gun pointed at him with his bare hands in Lethal Weapon 4...
