When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
The first two lines of a song thats sung week in week out.
But have they just become routine words to a song, and the meaning forgotten?
I remember seeing a thread not too long ago, asking 'what does this song mean to you' ?
Had our manager chosen to leave in the summer, he could have picked almost any club from the many positions and opportunities waiting for him to walk in the door. Real Madrid had openly and frivilously tried to nab him.
Yet, here we are, what six months later - where it seems every decision, substitution, formation and more, are being criticized by some. Some of which who stand there,
holding our colours high, before each 90 minutes of football which follow.
And even more hypocritically, once the 90 minutes are finished.
This season saw our greatest start to the Premiership in years.
A penalty decision against Chelsea holding back some effect. I
We've signed prospects, plus the greatest striker at this club since Robbie Bernard Fowler.
And at a time where it seems that points 'might' have stumbled the outcome of our final position this season,
some of us seem to forget to look or hope for that 'golden sky'.
The disappointment of 18 years hurts us all.
But sadly sometimes the 'super fan' status can get tarred with simply -
being a 'Liverpool fan'.
Or 'supporter' is a word I prefer.
I always thought this club was different.
Shankly used to say to the players how they should feel 'privileged' to play for this club.
I believe that this applies to us too.
Remember where we have been, what we have seen, what we have done, what we are still to do -
and most importantly, when things are not going as well as we hope.. 'what we currently have'.
