American here. I dislike the French more so. As a boy(I think I was 12) I visited Paris, and I got a lot of attitude from vendors when I tried to order a "baguette" in french. I mean, if you can't be nice to a well meaning kid, who's giving you business, well then you're just a douche. I like the English better, because I can understand what they're saying, so it's less likely they'll outright insult me.

Sorry I refuse to vote, can't say I'm very fused at all on hating either of these nations, although if that plunker Platini keeps coming up with the daftest suggestions then I may start swinging towards disliking the French. I don't think anyone deep down really dislikes any of these countries in terms of people. Sport however is a different subject. What winds eveybody up is the English media who talk a good game they have a unrealistic attitude when it comes to winning international games. England win one world cup in 1966 and we have heard about it ever since.

The most disliked sports country however is USA. God loves only them so thats why they win so much at swimming, athletics and golf these are the games that god loves. Fact is they are :censored:

at everything else, Oh of course they are world champions at Baseball & American Football but even at baseball the Cubians and Japanese are running them close. i think they'll always be World Champions at American football, lets face no other countries got the time, 4 hrs to play a one hour game is slightly excessive in terms of eating in to quality drinking time. They were once good a ice hockey and Netball but sadly whilst they still have the best league and best all round players their team are full of individuals with huge egos who think that instead of having God on their side they are Gods gioft and deserve to beat everybody !!!!!!!! sh1t hold on there that sounds very familar! hey maybe I do hate the Englsh after all:D

Simple, eh

Although America was a British colony, it was not like we were "colonized" by them. The country was mostly English people who colonized themselves to escape religious persecution (maybe this is why we have so many crazy Christians today). The only thing that makes me mad at the English was the War of 1812 (not sure what you guys call it, maybe the Second American War of Independence?) The Brits burnt down a lot of buildings where I live (including the White House), in fact the capitol had to be moved to the very small town next to mine for a couple of days.

As a matter of historical interest the 1812 war was necessary for the British in order to stop colonalists expansion into Canada. I am very disappointed in the fact that you blame the English and ignore the Scottish, Welsh and Irish along with French Canadians and native Americans who were also intend on stopping those christian colonalist who had turned there greedy eyes north, that is after they had butchered and masacred thousands and thousands of native Americans. Such Great men as that one time stalwart and supporter of the Bristish crown George Washington. Funny how American colonalists tend to want to expand everywhere and inhibit the red coats.

Joeterp One other thing the majority of colonalists were not English they were in fact Scots- Irish presbyterians who were persecuted by the Angligan church. If you trace the roots of the majority of your Presidents you will see this. Between 1720 and 1790 over 100,000 presbyterians of Scots-Irish descent left Ireland for the colonys. The vast majority of them and their off spring are founders and signatures of the declaration of independence. They were persecuted by the English and crried that dislike with them to the America's even so they only rebelled against the Crown when they were refused crown forces to expand west into Native American Lands Which the British ahd promised the Indian nation would be protected from The colonalists and the French.

That's what I meant when I said I live in a frontier town -- I know the french. We have them 30Km away.

And yes, they are protective with their language.

When I go there I try Spanish (basque aswell), my few phrases in French, and English if everything fails . Then you can find the 70% of french who are nice and realise you're making your best to communicate and as you say, you are trying to do business.

And then there's the old french chauvinist you describe.

When you find one of those don't put your head down in shame, that's what they want. Start talking loudly and slowly in your idiom, pointing him with the finger and gesticulate as he was an idiot, that's the medicine it's useful with them :nod

Yeah Joe and the ship carrying the declaration of war past the ship from Lord Liverpool in mid Atlantic the war was over before it began. The fact is that the colonalists were greedy they wanted land which had been protected and granted to the indian nation under the leadership of Tecumseh this was before the first war of independence. America is has some of the brightest most brilliant people in its short history, people, genius, artists, thinkers and peacemakers. However there still prevails the values of the colonalists who had a chip on the shoulder regarding religious persecution in Scotland and Ireland. There conservatism exists here in The North Of Ireland where even the Irish Republicans are starting to sound like George W Bush. We live in a world were greed and avarice prevail. If you wish me to take this post seriously, might I suggest becoming slightly more objective in your language and tone. This sounds like propaganda.

Certainly I encountered the minority of people in that circumstance, I wouldn't dare to judge the entire french people on the whole from one two week experience 9 years ago.

Funny Sniddle I dont think I have ever been accused of propoganda before I don't know if I should be offended or honoured. Here wait a moment though! is'nt asking questions about likes or dislikes of peoples national identies the type of propoganda that the infamous Dr Joseph Goebels used against everyone hated by the Nazi's. A but this is different of course just a bit of harmless fun and the word hate is such a bland inoffensive word is'nt. And asking only foreigners to give their opinion is nothing like a rag like the Shun would print Johnny foreigner hates you English even more than the damn Frogs. Oh I feel a verse of Elgar coming on " land of hope and glory" he sings in his propoganda voice, no wait surely a true englishman will sing out Jerusalem oh hold on though Im Irish I should sit in the corner crying over a drunken effort at Danny Boy.
