Also in marketing class today we were learning about what other cultures put on their pizza, and my teacher told me that the English put Tuna and Corn on their pizza. Is this true?
Americans like the English, who used to colonise them, and hate the French, who helped free them, The English like the Americans who defeated them in war and hate the French who they beat at war, The French hate both the americans and English who both recently saved them from being occupied by the Germans - who they now like!
Simple, eh

I mean, if you can't be nice to a well meaning kid, who's giving you business, well then you're just a douche. I like the English better, because I can understand what they're saying, so it's less likely they'll outright insult me.

I am very disappointed in the fact that you blame the English and ignore the Scottish, Welsh and Irish along with French Canadians and native Americans who were also intend on stopping those christian colonalist who had turned there greedy eyes north, that is after they had butchered and masacred thousands and thousands of native Americans. Such Great men as that one time stalwart and supporter of the Bristish crown George Washington. Funny how American colonalists tend to want to expand everywhere and inhibit the red coats.
big al wrote:Yeah Joe and the ship carrying the declaration of war past the ship from Lord Liverpool in mid Atlantic the war was over before it began. The fact is that the colonalists were greedy they wanted land which had been protected and granted to the indian nation under the leadership of Tecumseh this was before the first war of independence. The colonalists butchered thousands of peace loving indians and you can talk about war with France (which in fact was a vain attempt to distract the British Navy from there eventual destruction of the French and therefore the foundation for the birth of Queen Victoria's vast empire.) you can talk about American sailors or mercenary pirates who sold themselves to the French lieutenant with the bad arm. Best depicted and charicatured by Orwell in Animal Farm. But the fact is the greedy colonalists wanted more and they still do. America has continued to extend it empire right across this planet and it not the America of Twain, Poe, Hemingway, Lincoln, Kennedy or Luther King. Little white children and little black Children don't play togather in the streets or Alabama. America is has some of the brightest most brilliant people in its short history, people, genius, artists, thinkers and peacemakers. However there still prevails the values of the colonalists who had a chip on the shoulder regarding religious persecution in Scotland and Ireland. There is no such thing as Neo Con Joe, it is ahs been a constant state of mind for those who subjugate the masses in the great US of A. There conservatism exists here in The North Of Ireland where even the Irish Republicans are starting to sound like George W Bush. We live in a world were greed and avarice prevail. For goodness sake even the so called Liberals such as Michael Moore only wriets his books and makes films for the money. I suppose the thing in the end is that at least we still have our football as long as Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett Dont screw it up.

And yes, they are protective with their language.
When I go there I try Spanish (basque aswell), my few phrases in French, and English if everything fails . Then you can find the 70% of french who are nice and realise you're making your best to communicate and as you say, you are trying to do business.
And then there's the old french chauvinist you describe.
When you find one of those don't put your head down in shame, that's what they want. Start talking loudly and slowly in your idiom, pointing him with the finger and gesticulate as he was an idiot, that's the medicine it's useful with them
