According to sources close to Anfield Nottingham Forrest defender Michael Dawson is still very much a target.

The England U-21 captain has been suffering from recurring injuries for a while now but he seems to be on the mend. The young center half is said to be valued around the 5 million pound mark by Forrest so we'll have to wait and see whether that kind of cash is available at Anfield.

We reported yesterday that "The Wallet" might be closed for the season unless we manage to sell some of our deadwood.

All in all it's been a quiet summer with only Chelsea continuing their exhorbitant spending spree they started last summer.

we're not going to improve by signing players from the first division. dawson at 5m? that proves how overpriced english players are, especially as we have just signed the guy tipped to be the next spanish right back for 2m.

It maybe expensive but I've been watching Dawson for 2 seasons now and he will be oustanding in a few years with the right Guidence.

ive seen dawson a fair bit 2.
he looks quality, i reckon we leave him at forest at least for this season and watch his progress closley.
When the time is right snatch him from them, they would accept far less than 5million as they r in financial trouble.

st michael's right though- british players are just badly overpriced. and them b******* chelsea are just makin a mockery out of the transfer market. it doesnt look good for english footy i'm tellin yer. people are buyin foreign all the time cos of this. yout systems will suffer. sumthin needs to be done. i just dont know what

josemi can play in the centre and we've got hyypia and then weve carra at left full and finnan at right full. not much wrong with that

Dawson is only 20 and has at least 14 years at the top. £5 million is a snip. Hyypia isn't getting any yonger. We could keep Dawson for 5 years and sell for at least £10million but if he turns out to be as good as I think he will be, why sell.

£5 million for Reid is also a good price. He's a cracking internatonal.

the rule where only a certain number of foreign players can be named in a team should be reintroduced. that should stop chelski ruining the game

We definitely need another centre half. I haven't seen Dawson but what is the latest on Coloccini ? He impressed me at Copa America.

i havent seen much of him meself, only bits.
i think reds fans get paranoid about "expensive" buys to be honest as so many of the latest ones were sh***.
it seems risky
