mate winning the uefa cup much to be proud of. u only get in that if you flop in the league or win a mickey mouse domestic cup. Lets just hope u can avoid the ALMIGHTY celtic this year. that john hartson, really something aint he!?

It's better to win the UEFA cup than being thrashed out of the CL by Leverkusen.... or let that stupid big toothed Ronaldo score a hat-trick...

I would much prefer the 'champions league' returned to its original format,meaning manu being our only representative for the coming season.How can you call a competition a 'champions league' when the vast majority of teams in it never won a damn thing.
Well who is the best team in Europe?

The much devalued European Cup was further devalued when the team who finished 3rd or was it 4th in Serie A won the coveted trophy.They qualified in July after beating Slovan Liberec of the Czech Republic on the away goals rule.They lost a further 4 games before reaching the quarter-finals where they were joined by 3 champions Juve,Ajax and Valencia,a runner-up Real Madrid(euro champs),3 teams who finished 3rd Manu,Barcelona and Inter Milan.The semi pitted 2 qualifiers against each other.

Sorry to everyone who read this post back in May.Believe me Ted manu have earned the right to be in the 'champions league'but 2nd,3rd & 4th haven't.

Totally agree ss, champions league should be battled out between the champions of each european league (guess that wouldn't amass so much finance for uefa though eh?) - it would give clubs more incentive to win their respective leagues rather than play for 3rd or 4th place.

We have rightly won the competition as champions or holders and should be proud of that.

Some team won it in 1999 and they got in it through the back door! !

Could it be that the mancs were mocking our exit against Bayer Leverkusen two years ago but now the tables have turned and they are out of the CL  :laugh:
