Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Aaron » Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:31 pm

I'd just like to bring to your attention of an article in this paper today.

"Filthy Scouse scum
Is there anything more tedious than a Scouser? The most obnoxious city in Europe is also the most smug, self-congratulatory and paranoid - actually, it's a bit like Cork with even more annoying accents.

But after the recent debacle in Greece, it seems like their famous fans are finally getting their comeuppance.

After complaining that the Greek police were heavy handed and that UEFA were picking on them, the sport's governing body have issued a dossier detailing the misbehaviour of the Liverpool fans.

As UEFA's spokesman, William Gaillard puts it: "What other set of fans steal tickets from their fellow supporters or out of the hands of children?"

And how have Liverpool's politicians reacted to the fact that UEFA now brands their fans as the worst in Europe?

"UEFA is dragging Liverpool's name through the mud to deflect attention from themselves," says Scouse council leader Warren Bradley. "Big governing bodies like UEFA always look for scapegoats and never accept any blame."

Scapegoats? Refusal to accept blame? Something Scousers know all about"

Disgusted by this article, never read this paper before but sure as hell i wont be reading it again. To our Irish (or Norn Irish) people, treat this rag like the S*n, this is a McKenzie wannabe

Erm, that would be unacceptable in an internet forum. But how can a newspaper editor see that and don't do something about it? Meaning, how can they consider a whole city scum?

:O

As we say here, we do not owe anything to Scousers, meaning, we are neutral in the matter of crowds. And from a neutral perspective, the UEFA accusations have been unfounded and WAY off the mark.

To say of a crowd  is the worst crowd, is to say much. Because there's a lot of shíte, in Spain and Italy, not to mention countries with minor leagues, or Russia or Ukrania.

So if a journalist expects that Liverpool must accept that sentence, he's simply biased by a terrible hatred towards Liverpool. And I'm saying this from the neutral perspective, not the perspective that I like LFC.

But it's not only the journo's fault, meaning, there MUST be somebody in a newspaper that says that's unacceptable! that's why I find it shocking.

Freedom of Speech is one thing, and to slander or calumniate is another thing. I think somebody in Liverpool should take legal actions against that paper. It's astonishing.  :no

I'm surprised that the most popular paper in Ireland would print that.

Doesn't sound like something that would be printed in a credible newspaper.

ian o doherty is a scumbag, typical dublin w&nker having a go at cork people and scousers, its typical of him (a smartarse journalist having a cheap shot without knowing the facts, he is always at it,the editor of that paper aengus fanning is another who does the same) he should be shot with a barrel of his own sh ite. that paper is a broadsheet with a tabloid mentality and recently enough got into hot water with the irish police for producing an article about a female police officer who died giving birth a few months ago,  it made the news because her husband also a policeman was involved in a fatal shooting of an mentally ill armed man in a house in abbylara a few years ago, the story was distastful a total invasion of privacy and had nothing to do with the abbeylara shooting and the paper was widely condemned for the "story" the independent were forced to apolpgise for it afterwards begrudgingly.....this is just another example of scumbag journalism from a smartass ill educated lout.
I hope o doherty gets what he deserves, the dirty bast@rd.......

I sent an e-mail to the Irish Independent and to LFC informing them of this guy.

Pretty shocking stuff. I can only assume that O'Doherty is some kind of Richard Littlejohn-esque writer who is paid to be a bigoted :censored: as a gimmick.
