Cisse wants to come back

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well......Cisse currently has 7 goals in his last 7 games.....so that is a goal per game ratio over that period. Proving that a goal per game ratio isn't an unreasonable expectation.

Although his lack of ability as a footballer can't be disputed he does have a knack of putting the ball in the back of the net.

Surely you must agree that a player who gets so many chances during a game should have a better conversion ratio than he has??

Look at the chances he missed for Liverpool.....some criminal finishing! He could  have scored about 30+ goals last season if he had been more clinical.

You have to remember that we create more goalscoring opportunities than any other club in the Premiership and our conversion ratio is what has been letting us down.

Well I think Arsenal and Man Utd create more chances then we do too be honest.  I think the missed chances debate is overblown with Cisse.  people go on like he had ton of chances when he played for us last season.

I didnt see that too be honest.  Yeah he missed some chances but no more than morientes or crouch.

Morientes and Crouch were not bought in to lead the line though whereas Cisse was supposed to be the next Thierry Henry.

Instead we were lumbered with the next Lenny Henry who was so poor up front that he got moved out onto the right wing in a hope that his pace which is the only real asset to his game would problems for full-backs.

When he didn't succeed on the wing we had no other option than to try and sell him which was nearly done and dusted but for his 2nd leg break.

While Cisse did miss a few sitters at LFC, I sometimes think we over-estimate on the chances we create as a team.

A very large percentage of those chances are no where near goal-scoring. That stat is very misleading, even when you do see it racked up by statisticians during/after games.

We need a creative midfielder to give us GOAL scoring chances.

Cisse is an out and out striker. Before he came to Pool, he scored goals in a variety of ways. You do not loose that ability overnight - and he is showing that he hasn't lost that sort of striking skill. The same goes for Kuyt, watch his goals in the dutch league and it is easy to note that he scored goals in a number of different ways, not just blasting the ball.

The issue at hand is that neither Kuyt nor Cisse are capable of playing in the lone striker role. Drogba has given the league a masterclass in that - bearing in mind that Chelsea have been playing long ball tactics all season. If we play 4-5-1, we would need a striker in the mould of a Drogba or Henry.

Unless we go out and get ourselves a creative attacking midfielder, in which case - an E'to or Villa could flourish up-front.

cisse probably isnt the worst forward we`ve ever had but one thing he did seem to lack for me was a genuine strikers instinct to `sniff out` the scrappy goals.
those scrappy goals are the bread and butter of great strikers and what title challenges are built on.
he just never seemed to be in the `right place at the right time` to tap in those loose balls that ping around defenders legs in the box or be there whenever the keeper spilt a tricky shot or cross.
that instinct cant be taught, you`ve either got it - like rush, van nistelrooy, fowler, owen - or you havent.
cisse always seemed like an athlete playing up front rather than a jimmy greaves `born to score goals` type of leader of the line.

Benfica keen on Liverpool's Cisse for Simao
tribalfooball.com - May 22, 2007

Benfica are ready to discuss a potential swap with Liverpool involving Djibril Cisse and Simao Sabrosa.
Reds chief Rick Parry admitted last month that Simao remained a target for manager Rafa Benitez and it's understood they have already informed Cisse about the prospect of him moving to Portugal in part-exchange.

Benfica are keen on the deal, with strikers Nuno Gomes, Derlei and Fabrizio Miccoli all leaving this summer. Simao earlier this season penned a deal through to 2012, but is prepared to leave Benfica should the right offer arrive.

Portugal's DN says Cisse is also open to moving to Lisbon, though it's understood would prefer to pursue his career in England next season
