I dont think that will happen.  The English media a few weeks ago wrote a lot of rubbish saying 'OM dont want cisse after his terrible loan period' or 'OM fans are booing Cisse and dont want him'.  None of this was written with any substance.  As of now Cisse has 14 goals for Marseille with two games to go.  7 league goals and 7 cup goals and a ratio better than the other strikers at the club.  If that record is a one which means he has been a failure than I dont know what he has to do.

Marseille are reportedly looking into the possibility of keeping Djibril Cisse on loan for a further year.

Despite many critics and some difficult periods during his time at the Stade Velodrome, the French striker has scored 14 goals this season.

Marseille have the option to buy Cisse from Liverpool for €12million (£8.2million), but are unwilling to pay such a fee.

A reduced price of €7million (£4.8million) is a possibility, but an extension of his loan deal is the most likely option.

Marseille chairman Pape Diouf is waiting to begin talks with Liverpool and aims to have Cisse's future sorted soon.

"Liverpool are preparing for the UEFA Champions League final, and we are in the final run of Ligue 1," Diouf told L'Equipe.

"We all want to start talks after those key periods. We want to know more about next season, which could affect our future choices."

Meanwhile, Diouf has played down suggestions that Albert Emon could be on his way out of Marseille if the club misses out on Champions League qualification.

Last weekend's penalty shoot-out defeat to Sochaux in the French Cup final has tarnished Emon's campaign.

Reports in France claim Toulouse coach Elie Baup is being targeted as his replacement, but Diouf has denied Emon will depart.

"Albert Emon keeps all my trust," said Diouf.

"Today, nothing can make me think Emon should be replaced, but I don't know what will come in the coming weeks and months."

Sky sports.

8 million and I'd think we'd be laughing, although we got ripped initially. But I dont think Marseille are that stupid.

how long has he got left on his contract?
i assumed for some reason it was one year but it must be two.
we cant seriously loan him out for another season if its his last season under contract to us, he could walk away for nothing at the end of the loan period.
i know we are not going to get anywhere near our 14m back but you could easily get 3-4m for him.
surely he must have at least 2 years left on his contract.

I would be happy just getting him off the wage bill on a permanent basis.

If we get some kind of fee for him then that would be unbelievable but I would also back a free transfer if that wasn't possible.

Straight swap for Owen to Newcastle.  :D
The toon army would be delighted with Cisse and it could possibly happen.
I dont know how Owen thinks but he wanted out when Ged left I cannot see him being happy atall with Fat Sam as manager just cant see it.
If he didnt trust Rafa and he had won tropheys imagine what faith he has in Fat Sam?
His rough them up tactics dont let the other team play win at all costs Wimbeldon methods I cant see this appointment of a new manager whos never won a thing being Owens ideal manager.
Cisse on the other hand injuries apart would fit into Fat Sams system one upfront perfect.
This could work out in our favour Rafa wants shut of Cisse asap and we get Owen back.
But and its a BIG but would Rafa want him back that is the 50 million dollar question.
But this swap deal could possibly happen.

It would be a gamble to bring Michael Owen back based on fitness issues but having said that....we have already seen some glimpses of Harry Kewell since his lengthy lay-off and he is looking extremely sharp again at the moment.

I can't see Sam Allardyce being interested in a player of limited ability like Cisse as he had better than him when he was at Bolton.

Newcastle will not play the same kind of football that Bolton played under Big Sam as the budget there will allow them to be more competitive and bring players not required to be 'Dogs of War'.

I expect to see a much better Newcastle United next season to be honest!

Newcastle will be better but you can bet your life that Fat Sam will not change his mangerial style he only knows that style managers rarely change their methods.
They will be hard working tough tackling but a slightly younger version of Bolton.
I think Fat Sam would love to turn Cisse into another Diouf to prove a point and I think he would bite our hands off to get him at a knockdown price.

If Big Sam only knew one way of playing I honestly don't think he would have been given the job at Newcastle United.

Some of the players they have there at the moment wouldn't adapt to that kind of football so a complete squad overhaul would be required and I don't think that is going to be achievable in just one post season break.

Freddie Shepherd and the supporters there who are passionate about their football would not accept this kind of style of approach to the game anyway.

If Allardyce does decide to stick to 'tried and tested' methods that were successful at Bolton....I don't think he will last very long in the job.

Cisse doesn't have the technical ability or a good enough football brain to be another Diouf so I think that is most definately out of the equation too.

Nicely taken goal from Cisse I have to say.

Thanks for the link Kobashi.

If Cisse had attributes other than pace and being able to blast the ball he could have had a future at Liverpool.

Hopefully he will continue to score goals in France so someone will take him off our hands.

7 goals in 7 games is the minimum I would expect to be honest from a £14,000,000 in that league. He needs to be scoring at least once a game against poor quality defenders/keepers.

a goal every game??  I do not know of any striker who has a ratio like that in france.

come on ligue 1 is not that easy.  big names never scored a goal per game.

Morientes only scored 10 in 28 games for Monaco
David Trézéguet scored 52 in 93 games for Monaco
Fred has scored 24 goals in 49 games for Lyon
Drogba got 18 in 35 for Marseille.
