this pains me to say it but it may be prudent to keep him. why???

1) initial value 14 mill now ~ 3 loss of 11 mil BUT if he shows he can play we could sell him for ~6 in january therefore make 3 mill

2) bellamy and fowler appear to be gone...villa will be tough to get as will be anyone good..cisse offers the speed position

3) he may have something to prove

face it it will be tough to get 2 strikers and couch and dirk are not fast...he could be useful until he raises his price..it is a chance to gain ~3 mill--I don't want him back but ....

Cisse is finished at Liverpool.

The fact that he ever arrived at the club in the first place is a travesty in itself!

£14,000,000........the only player I can honestly think of that has been a bigger waste of money in the Premiership has to be Juan Sebastien Veron when he went to the Mancs for £28,000,000 odd.

He only managed 9 Premiership goals last season which is a very poor return for someone that was originally purchased to lead the line.

His technique is shocking and he can trap a ball further than I can kick it.

He is all pace and a hard shot....nothing else.

If they hung Cisse for being a footballer...they would be hanging an innocent man!

No. Simply NO.
No sentiments here. Yes, maybe off the field he's a good man but on the field he's more of a runner than a striker.

Does not fit the system. Therefore he should go.

Shame though, I was creaming myself when we first bought him (from youtube clips I admit...never saw him in a proper game). I say sell for anything over the 5 mil.

I think he will not be coming back. But most likely to be on loan for one more season as no one will pay more than 6 million for him.

thats a fair point about wanting cisse to arrive.
at the time he was hot property (as was kuyt, hell, even dean saunders) but it just goes to show how trying to buy a  striker has turned into a lottery.
morientes looked class in spain and france, struggled here then went back to spain and has done really well for valencia.
the clamour for villa etc is just the same as the clamour for cisse.
all`s you can do is cross your fingers and hope we find someone who just clicks with the team.
pity chester city havent got any more quick, slim welshman leading the line.

Cisse had a crappy attitude on the pitch, i remember a game against the mancs when he missed a chance or one of our players failed to find him, and he was so busy banging the ground that when the ball was played back he wasn't ready for a tap in.

That said if we don't get the players this season that we want he is still an option to have, can't see the point of sending out to save his 2m salary, his price would rise again playing for us even as a sqaud player. It all depends on who comes in. Bellamy or cisse, neither.

BTW i get the impression that if the manager was all nicey nice and geeing cisse up he would get far more out of him.

Bringing Cisse back to become possibly 6th in the pecking order for a place up front would be a total waste of time.

He is currently struggling in French football which is an embarrassment in itself so what on earth could he offer us?

Granted he scored 19 goals last season (only 9 in the Prem) but anyone can see clearly that they were hit and hope blasts on the whole and there was never any real finesse to his finishing.

For all his pace....I can't really remember seeing him take on a defender and actually beat them.

If Man City are prepared to pay £3,500,000 for him we should sell at the earliest possible opportunity.

to be fair to him he bust his leg again earlier on in the season in france and has struggled to find fitness.
apparently he`s looked a bit better these last few weeks and is on a bit of a scoring run, i think he scored 2 on friday night.
he`s on about 11 or 12 goals which isnt that bad for someone who`s had a broken leg midway through the season.
but i totally agree with you about the lack of finesse in his finishing, he just blasts it at the keeper all the time and i dont think ive ever seen another striker miss so many one on one situations with keepers.
the amount of times he was clean through but just toe ended it rather than try to go round the keeper or lobb him or place it..........
frustrating player.

I am upset at the price we will get for Cisse, I would sell him like a shot if someone offered £6/7million for him. I am sick of loaning players out who just drop in value and then basically go for next to nothing. Cisse isn't like Diao or Cheyrou, he has had to recover from 2 horrendous injuries as well as adapting to the different styles of different clubs/leagues/players etc.

Someone mentioned the number of 1 on 1's Cisse missed, I cant remember Bellamy even having a 1 on 1 this season (no doubt you will recount loads now ) :D  He will never be another Owen, I think we all realised that even before his first leg break, but hes worth more than £3.5million ffs.

As I said elsewhere he scored 7 goals in his last 10 appearances for us, one of which was in the cup final. (All away) Maybe he is someone we could use for a season while building up his price. If nothing else he makes teams defend deep against us.

I just want someone to offer decent money for him.

I would love to know the reasons behind you wanting Cisse to return to Liverpool SuperScoucer.

Saint...........On what basis do you think Cisse is worth more than £3,500,000?? I think that would be paying over the odds for him to be totally honest!

£3,500,000 for a flop in French football seems like good money to me!

To take him back just so we might loose less money on him??
What kind of stupid argument is that. So we have to put up with his lack of effort, football ability for half a year or a whole season???
He is no improvment on our current strikeforce so he won't improve the team or the success it might have next season.
Just have to accept that once again Houllier blew it like Diouf and getting back half the money we paid is just a wet dream.
