If they died in an ordinary accident then it wouldn't be here but they died coming home from watching Liverpool play (although cheering for Chelsea) and that is the difference.

I'm constantly amazed at how many of us rush to express our  sympathy whenever a death is reported on this forum . People die every day but surely unless you've had some connection with them or their family (even if it's only banter in a footy forum) why are we moved to express sorrow ? .

If he'd been a Red I'd understand the well meant messages, but a Chelsea supporting millionaire dies in a helicopter crash , so ?

Call it a character flaw but I just don't get it .

Was actually gonna type something similar but was scared as id get non stop abuse. the only reason it was in the news was that it was he was rich. people in cars after matches crash and die and we hear nothing. i feel for the family of course, but in all honesty i didnt lose any sleep over it, as did no one here.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when this was in the main forum yesterday but didn't say owt in case it caused a stink.

Its a death, its sad but to be frank, it does not affect me or my club in anyway.

nice.

it has nothing to do with any of us, save for the quite obvious fact that it transpired after these lads had been to Anfield to watch the game. Thats all. That IS the connection.

There is absolutely no reason at all to act all sanctimonious and blase over it neither. If you do not wish to offer any condolence or mark of respect...fine. Do not enter the thread - simple really. Millions each day die..in wars, through illness or otherwise of course. But spare us the holier than thou act in the process.
I actually thought it might have been a decent enough thing to do, should any rival supporters from CFC visit this site post the game and expect LFC fans to behave in the manner in which they have become world renowned for. IE with Humility and Dignity.... i feel at least compelled to respond with that.

red37 I aint having a go at you. You obviously have more morals that me etc.

I was not going to say anything as you suggested, like I did yesterday but thought I would back woof-woof up before a mob moved in for the kill.

Its sad but as you say a lot sadder things are happening in todays world mate, and quite frankly I am more worried about other things.

It was a nice gesture sure, would I do it, probably not but your probably a nicer person than me.

Im not a nice person or filled with morals at all. Infact i too am 'Over the line - and far away' on that score...Im just a Human being who's learned life's lessons the hard way mate. And i wouldnt swap that experience for the world, neither. And neither must i bleat and crow about it as though it were some kind of millstone i wanted to burden every man and his dog with to the point of Psychosis.

I dont blame Woof or you or Dawson or ANYBODY for having reservations about offering your own mark of condolence in a thread about a complete stranger's misfortunate and untimely end.. How the hell could I, or anyone for that matter..

But the point i make about the calibre of this Magnificent clubs heritage, measured by its supporters words, actions and deeds over the decades...is valid, and hopefully still relevant. Significantly so, in the wake of the Rainbow's pot ending up falling somewhere in the middle of Stanley Park.

Like the Dinosaurs, maybe my time has come to turn the other cheek, to speak of 'Campione's' and of winning European cups as though they grow on trees...Or perhaps turn into a 'new' kind of supporter who can find absolutely NO solace with his football club - or its guardians. Nor for that matter, any peace with his fellow kin and kith. This the new breed? You can shove it.

I tell you what, i will never walk alone in my own mind. And i will continue to believe in it.

End the Thread MODS. there is enough food for thought in here already.

There is. And I agree your values and FWIW what you say about not entering a condolences thread if it's true you don't care.

But despite I agree all that, I don't see the reason to lock the thread, since there's not bad behaviour between posters, and mostly what we have read are different reactions about a tragic accident. Which we may agree or disagree, but I must respect.

As long as there's proper respect no lock then... hopefully others will say their condolences or thoughts aswell. Talking about values is not bad neither, from time to time.

I was sad to hear this news....

I would also feel sorry for other tragedies were I to hear of them....

And you are right, most don't get reported....

But this one has so I feel sorry and offer my condolences to the families concerned...

BBC

World's oldest woman dies at 116

Maria Esther de Capovilla - officially the world's oldest woman - has died in Ecuador aged 116, relatives said.

Capovilla died at dawn on Sunday in the coastal city of Guayaquil after succumbing to pneumonia. Her funeral was planned for Monday.

Born in 1889, the same year as Charlie Chaplin and Adolf Hitler, Capovilla was 22 when the Titanic sank and 79 when astronauts first set foot on the Moon.

Her family said donkey milk might be key to her longevity.

Tragic, RIP .

But hey, every cloud has a silver lining , at least the family no longer have to milk Donkeys .
