Who will be our main man tonight - I know it's a team game…

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ade » Wed Apr 25, 2007 3:40 pm

We've done the formations, possible starting 11s, score predictions, so sorry if we tiptoe over some old ground. And I know it's a team game, 11 reds pulling together…

but in the calm before the storm let's boil it down to one prediction.

Who do you think will be our most important player tonight?

I'm going for Mascherano. I am an unashamed massive fan of this lad. I think he is already a  world-class midfielder and tonight, with the onus on Chelsea to press us hard, push up and attack, he will be key in breaking down their attacks, most of which come through the middle, and stopping the likes of Fat Furr-wank bombing on from midfield. He'll also be nipping at Drogba's heels around the box.

I know he's on a yellow, but it makes sense to play him tonight and risk him picking up his second tonight rather than in the 2nd leg, which could cost him a place in the final.

If Javier can marshall the midfield, protect Carra and Agger and set us going forward with the rhythm and accuracy we've seen so far, he will be instrumental in us getting a result. He's said his hero is Claude Makalele - with CM's star finally fading, as it has been this season, this could be Masch's night to emerge as the holding midfielder the whole premiership would love to have.

Who'd you go for?

Carragher - it normally is in these games

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

Markus Merk. Bit of a mixed bag. Think we need to play with a European mindset, despite it being an all-English tie. Play the ref. Whatever it takes.

You lot want to get down the bookies. Liverpool are 3/1 to win and 2/1 to draw!

That has to be the best odds I have ever seen since for a CL semi. The bookies obviously think Chelsea will walk it.

The odds for scores are even better:

Liverpool 1-0 - 15/2
Liverpool 2-0 - 18/1
Liverpool 2-1 - 14/1
0-0 - 11/2
1-1 - 9/2

The bookies obviously like throwing their money away! :D

Gotta agree that if we play Mascherano he will step up, the batle will be who controls the Midfield, have only seen him live once,(At Villa, i know i know!), but in all the other matches he seems to be getting confident, and snapping about the middle of the park, will be vital to the victory.

Pass St Mike's glass… but how often do the bookies get it wrong.

I'd take a 2-1 defeat tonight. We have to go for a goal.

Yeah some crazy odds, first scorer bets for our strikers start at 9/1, i might stick 5 quid on Gerrard to score from outside the box in 90mins at 12/1. Huge prices.
